Breaking news - Kerry: Kiev ready for ceasefire, talks with militia in E. Ukraine
Russia Today ^ | 6-28-2014 | RT

Posted on 07/29/2014 8:36:11 AM PDT by tcrlaf

Tuesday, July 29 15:20 GMT:

Kiev is ready for a cease-fire “now,” US Secretary of State John Kerry claimed, following a meeting with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Washington. Kerry added that President Petro Poroshenko is also ready to start talks with the militia in the southeast of the country.

15:06 GMT:

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a telephone conversation with US State Secretary John Kerry has urged Washington to influence Kiev to achieve a prompt ceasefire and to start negotiations with southeast Ukraine.

Lavrov stressed the need to return to the accord achieved at Geneva on July 17, including an end to the use of force and to promptly start an open and accountable process of constitutional reform involving all regions of Ukraine.

The two diplomats also agreed to implement the UNSC resolution which demands the provision of an international and independent investigation into the causes of the MH17 disaster and a ceasefire in the region surrounding the crash site.

As I listen to the news there is nothing about a cease fire in the works. Your post is typical BS.

The only thing in the works is a proposal before the Ukrainian Parliament to allow the Dutch and Australian investigators to carry weapons for self defense.

How do you feel about that, tcrlaf???

Should they be allowed to carry weapons for their own self-defense at the MH17 site????

A minimally decent person would attach an open apology for attacking everyone relentlessly for months who referred to US policy.

Amazing to see the “Ukranians = Nazis” thing here. News flash, there were two “extremist” parties in the election, Svoboda and Right Sector. Svoboda’s Oleh Tyahnybok took 1.16% of the vote. Right Sector’s Dmytro Yarosh took 0.70%. Less than two percent of Ukranians voted for them. And they’re not even that extreme - Greece’s Golden Dawn is a hundred times more radical than Right Sector and Svoboda combined. Right Sector even held a ceremony to honor the jews killed in Maidan by Yanukovytch, for crying out loud.

Here’s the reality. Ukraine sat around and timidly did almost nothing for a *month* while gun-toting mercenaries predominantly from another country took over a quarter of their land, because they were too afraid that if they shot at them they might hit their own people. Now that they actually use their military to drive them out and try to get their country back together while the mercs hide in densely populated areas with civilian shields (*cough* Hamas *cough*) and shoot down a bloody passenger jet in the meantime while their sponsor’s military fires artillery and missiles from across the border? Why, dear Lord, fighting those people makes the Ukranians NAZIS! Especially their president, Willy Wonka. I mean Poroschenko. He’s clearly the biggest Nazi of them all! What sort of president would use the military to put down a rebellion to keep his country in one piece? To heck with him, and that Nazi-lover Abraham Lincoln too!

Now, now. Stop trying to get through to the Putin lovers with facts, logic and common sense. It doesn’t work. They’re like liberals.

Right Sector’s Dmytro Yarosh took 0.70%.

That cannot be. RT reported that Yarosh won 700% of the vote.

You do nothing but diminish what ethnic cleansing is, by referring to the Ukraine’s actions in this manner. You should know better.

What they drew in the election means little. Because of the independent armed militias, Obama administration support, and armed strong-arming, they hold power far beyond their numbers, as has been proven many times in recent weeks.

That August 1 deadline is growing closer, and Kiev is out of money, with the next IMF tranche endangered by the fighting. The fall of the government this weekend hasn’t helped any, and has given more power to the Obama-backed Svoboda.

Ukraine has admitted they don’t have enough (unpaid for) gas stored to make it through the winter.

The unrest in the western part of the country, where the cannon fodder are coming from, is growing fast, with armed attacks in recent days against Conscription offices, and the very visible conscript’s mothers protests.

In addition, many Public Sector workers haven’t been paid in weeks.

I said several days ago that time was running out for Kiev, for a number of reasons, and now that time grows near.

Don’t pop the cork just yet. RT lies, Right Sector is beating snot out of your comrades, and Ukrainians are more determined than ever. Time to look for another employer!

Yes, and let's not forget the other extremist in the election, the pro Russian Dobkin. He got 2%.

After the way he handled the Israeli situation I’d tell him “don’t call us, we’ll call you”.

Kiev violated international law. Let’s call it what it really is....ethnic cleansing.

Really? So then how is Ukraine separating the 61% ethnic Ukrainians for from the 39% ethnic Russians in Donetsk and Luhansk??

RT is a lot more accurate then the stupid crap you write day after day.

Maybe that’s the real problem you’re having.

So many false analogies in that, I’m almost embarrassed for you.

Here’s my problem.
After everything Obama has done, and with what he is doing now in Israel, we are just supposed to forget all of that, and just blindly follow him on Ukraine, just this one issue, and ignore the agendas that are at work here?

Ignore everything that happened, leading up to this?

Kiev violated international law

They're using loans from the EU and the US to fight against their own citizens, while not paying their bills. And they're escalating the fight.

Isn't it way past time for the US and the EU to say "enough"?

Yep —

Russia Today sure was right on the mark today, weren’t they???

How do you spell “cease fire” over there: “s-a-n-c-t-i-o-n-s”.
