Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to trumpet the so-called 2009 reset of the U.S.-Russian relationship despite all evidence to the contrary that it worked.
With relations over the past two years dwindling to lows not seen since the Cold War, Clinton still told National Public Radio Thursday that it was a success. She told BBC last month that it was a brilliant stroke.
The reset worked, she said. It was an effort to try to obtain Russian cooperation on key objectives while Medvedev was president, and of course Putin still pulled the strings but he gave Medvedev a certain amount of independence to negotiate, number one, a new arms control treaty which was absolutely necessary. We brought Russia around to understanding why we thought there needed to be international sanctions against Iran.
Not everyone has been quite so deluded about the soured relationship between the two countries.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney referred to Russia as our No. 1 geopolitical foe in 2012 and was roundly mocked by a chorus of Obama administration members, including Clinton. Since that time, led by President Vladimir Putin, Russia has antagonized the U.S. through such moves as granting asylum to fugitive NSA leaker Edward Snowden, continuing to support Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, invading Crimea and, most recently, through its role in arming pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine suspected of shooting down a Malaysian Airlines commercial flight.
As for Iran, the Washington Free Beacon reported in May that a senior Russian official held a meeting with Irans ambassador to Moscow for advice on how the Russians could skirt U.S. sanctions after their invasion of Crimea, and the two nations have boosted their ties over the past year.

HILLARY CLINTON: The reset worked. It was an effort to try to obtain Russian cooperation on key objectives while Medvedev was president, and of course Putin still pulled the strings but he gave Medvedev a certain amount of independence to negotiate, number one, a new arms control treaty which was absolutely necessary. We brought Russia around to understanding why we thought there needed to be international sanctions against Iran.Ill never forget the meeting that we had, the president and I and just one other person on our side and Medvedev and two on his side, where we told him that we had evidence, conclusive evidence, about Iran building an underground facility, at a place called Fordow. The Russians were shocked because they thought they knew what was going on in Iran. So we brought them to the table at the security council, we got those tough sanctions, and we eventually were able to get to the negotiations that are going on now with the hope that something real can come out of them.
The Russians SUPPLIED all Iran’s enrichment equipment, you twit!!
I saw some of it on the docks in St. Petersburg, in 2005, next to where the boat I was working on docked. About 1/4 acre of grey crates and giant weldments sitting on the dock marked “to Iran Nuclear Agency, Teheran”.
Reset all the way back to the beginning of the cold war.
Reset all the way back to the beginning of the cold war.
I said 1949 because that’s when the Soviets detonated their first A-Bomb.
Give her a break. She has had PTSD ever since she came under sniper fire in Bonsia.
Did she have a STROKE????? Nah.....just a DEMOCRAT LIAR!!!
She might be getting a little senile.
Just a few months ago, as an example of the wonderful post-Reset state of American-Russian relations, Hillary was publicly comparing Putin to Adolph Hitler. To which Putin replied with gentlemanly restraint, ‘’Hillary Clinton has never been too graceful in her statements.’’
There isn’t a foreign-policy expert in America, no matter at what point he or she stands on the political spectrum, who doesn’t consider the Hillary/Obama ‘’reset’’ of Russian-American relations to be a failure. Just as no reasonable person considers Hillary to have been ‘’dirt poor’’ when she and Bill Clinton left the White House.
The lies get bigger and bigger. And there are almost two and a half years yet to go before the November 2016 election.
She’s mental.
God will give them over to their own deception, a reprobate mind... the fires of hell are stoked by the deceived.
I don't know the above to be true, but my general impression is that politics is the world of the narcissists, and that she fits right in.
If she believes this, they she does have mental “issues” as is being reported. She’s a loon.
The bizzaro world of left wing statism.
I was saying 60 because of the cubans. but 49 works
“I”, “me”, “my”, and “we”....
Count Hillary absent. I can barely stand for this fairy tale that assumes Hillary shaped foreign policy. The only thing she shaped during her tenure at State was her waist line.
She assigned real MEN to do ALL the heavy lifting; seasoned, experienced and crafty MEN, who had dealt already with Israel in the past for years, who had relationships.
Hillary was never the chief, but one more little Indian, who made a point to swoop in just in time for the cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and PHOTO ops.
