They’re such junk that the feds are probably doing them a favor by taking them away. Probably not a bad idea to run CarFax too.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against... We’re after power and we mean it... There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

- Ayn Rand, 1957 -

All government regulation inevitably leads to tyranny. Either ban an object, or have it legal with no government restrictions.

[ Picard, the ICE spokesman, added: “The vehicle owners, who are victims of this criminal scheme, will have an opportunity to seek restitution for their losses.” ]

What a bunch of F&^%&^! Bullshit! The first crime may have been the illegal importation of the vehicles but the SECOND and MOST AGREGIOUS crime was the CRIMINAL SEIZURE of citizen vehicles by FEDERAL THUGS!

Go after the importer and make them buy a New vehicle for the victims and have the feds show up with the new vehicle for the owner by all means, but to STEAL someones vehicle which may be their ONLY means of transport....

CRIMINAL!!!

Dozens of agents, thousands of man-hours spent to take a handful of cars off the road... But Obama needs millions to face the crisis he created.

BamBam can add these 40 to the number of illegal aliens that his administration has captured. Let’s see...that brings the total to....40!

My Land Rover was beaten as a child and threatened into joining a gang in its homeland, so I demand automotive refugee status for it. At least I should be able to give it a good home until it gets amnesty.

Pretty impressive how they can track down a 1983 Land Rover, right down to the pedigree of the owner’s father, but haven’t a fricking clue about who overstayed their visa and how many relatives they’ve sneaked into the country.

For years tens of millions enter illegally unabated, but imported cars are a big priority...

They are on the case in force!

Since the border is safer than it’s ever been the feds need to find something to keep themselves occupied.

Well, I sympathize with the victims, but I also understand that if these vehicles have been stolen, they must be retained as evidence in order to prosecute the guilty parties, else, the courts would throw out the case for lack of evidence. It’s a shame. Don’t blame the officers. Blame our judicial system.

Isn’t amazing the HLS can track down these so called illegal vehicles and couldn’t find the Boston Marathon serial killers before they slaughtered and maimed a lot of innocent people.

“News of the seizures first appeared on the Land Rover Defender forum Defender Source around 8 a.m. Tuesday, when one user posted to say that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security came to his home at 6:45 a.m. to seize his truck. That user was quickly joined by several others, who said their Land Rovers were confiscated by investigators who came to their homes with federal warrants.

One of them was Danny Harrington, who lives in Albany, New York. Last year he bought a 1983 Land Rover 110 through a friend in New York. He told Jalopnik that police drove around his residence looking for his truck, and then went to his parents’ house 10 miles away to find it — a house where it wasn’t even registered.”

“They told me it was illegally imported, and the guy who imported it last year falsified the paperwork on the truck,” Harrington said. The investigators came to the house with a list of VIN numbers and said his was on it, and that they were taking it with them.”

In the mean time, half of the cars in northern and central mexico have expired plates from the US states where they were stolen and driven across the border, no questions asked courtesy of the US and mexican governments. All other imports get put under the microscope, with the exception of china, they get a free pass, and preferential treatment, being fellow communists and all that.
