FYI
New Land Rovers are just Fords.
Interesting that that the old POS ones would be in that much demand.

What doesn’t Homeland Security have it’s dirty little hands into these days. Is this the army that obama warned us of being more heavily armed than our military back in 2008? They are tracking down 20 year old cars and musical instruments with ivory in them. How about if they secure our homeland by helping with the border if they are bored and looking for something to do.....

I have a 2006 Jag S Type that has been an excellent car. I was thinking about buying a new car but I still like the Jag as well as any of the ones I’ve test drove so can’t see spending the money yet.

At least the rover Jeremy drove being chased by the challenger tank held together. I loved that segment.

LOL. Some years back the young guy doing the inspection on my old TR-6 said "I think you have a small oil leak", so I joked back "That's OK, it a Triumph and they're supposed to do that". He just said "Oh".

I think he believed me.

Bet all these Land Rover owners were white male Republicans.

A lot of my fellow Airmen stationed in the U.K. wanted to bring a Land Rover home.

What caught my attention was they stole Land Rovers, not subarus. Want to bet on how many of them become staff cars for the feds?

What was that joke...

something about why don’t the British make _something_

Answer: because they couldn’t figure out how to make it leak oil.

"The Land Rovers, which do not meet federal safety or emission standards, cannot be lawfully operated in the United States."

Incorrect. DOT and EPA regs are rolling. They only go back 25 years. Everything 25 years and older is exempt from DOT and EPA regs and legal to import. 1989 and older for now. 1990 next year, and so on.

But, if the Land Rover is actually a 2000 year model that was illegally re-VIN'd to appear to be an older vehicle, then you've got a different story.

Found it -

Why didn’t the British invent computers?
Because they couldn’t figure out how to make ‘em leak oil.

Lucas was one of the early developers of the process to cause a completely electronic device to leak oil.

That's it.

In the same inspection as the oil leak a rear tail light was out, even though it worked fine at the house 10 minutes before. We fiddled for a while to finally get the bulb retainer to ground so they would pass the car.

After finishing the TR-6 I had hoped to tackle rebuilding a Jag XKE, but decided I'd had my fill of the British imports.

As far as I can tell, no one is claiming that these are stolen vehicles (apart from OUR government stealing them, of course):

The seizures are being made pursuant to an ongoing criminal investigation involving the unlawful importation of the vehicles from Great Britain. The Land Rovers, which do not meet federal safety or emission standards, cannot be lawfully operated in the United States.
