In general, I think you're correct Max. For now, though, I think it will be confined to the Middle East, as the Sunnis and Shias are battling for supremacy.

Our best move is to "drill, baby, drill". I'm not an isolationist at heart, but I have no confidence in the current chain of command (to include the Pentagon) to issue rules of engagement that don't put our troops further in harm's way. Secondly, it's time for the natives to fight for their own damn country, instead of relying primarily on Americans to do it for them.

"Well, their moron leader Strelkov was apparently crowing about downing an AN26 just minutes before the news of the 777 came out

This is an AN-26

Length: 78 ft 1 in.
Wingspan: 95 ft 9½ in.
Tail height: alt=28 ft 1½.

This is a 777

Length: 209 ft 1 in (63.7 m)
Wingspan: 199 ft 11 in (60.9 m)
Tail height: 60 ft 9 in (18.5 m)

at 35,000ft ... they look alike.

Except that the AN-26 has a service ceiling <25,000 ft.

Can someone explain how the clothes disappear?

The plane was at 30,000 feet. A falling body would reach terminal velocity in about five seconds, then fall at more than 120mph until something interferes. It's hard enough keeping your clothes on with nylon straps and poly buckles.

And nine months after the Iran Air shootdown the Captain’s family minivan was bombed with his wife driving. The AP reported that the FBI had ruled out terrorist activity.

Has Obama decided yet if this is a terrible tragedy?

This ars hat is just as responsible as Putin. Ukraine asked King Obama for resources to be able to fight off Putin and this self anointed King said no. I place the murder on both King Obama and Putin.

Why in the world would the US government say anything about this? Our government just told the whole world our intelligence gathering capabilities. And for what purpose? Because Obama is mad at Putin? Giving away intelligence gathering capabilities used to be treason. We are governed by greedy, vengeful ten year olds.

If you remember the early moments of 9/11 ( the first 9/11) when those poor souls trapped by the fires on the upper floors started jumping of the WTC..having made the terrible decision to die that way rather then burning to death..for a minute or so, we saw the pictures, then the media made the decision to stop airing them..and they have hardly even been seen again. Not that I want to dwell on the horrific deaths, but if more Americans were made to understand that these terrorists are inhumane savages...we wouldn't be focused on giving them lawyers, Korans, prayers rugs, soccer balls, medical care, and Mirandiziing then.

A personal story..some may find interesting....my youngest daughter had started her first job in July, after graduating from college. She was working in an office tower across the street from the WTC..When the first plane hit, they were soon told to evacuate..as most were heading out and down the stairs..they were told to return to their offices and stay inside...the feeling was they'd be safer from falling glass and debris..remember, this was a few minutes after the attack..in all the confusion. When the second plane hit, I was in midtown Manhattan at the time...I managed to get her on the phone..and told her to get out, go downstairs, and start walking north as fast as she could..I told her I'd head downtown and meet her at the Arch in Washington Square..she and several of her friends walked down 25 flights, and exited their building onto the plaza area in front of the WTC..several bodies landed within yards of them..FYI..she had a rough years after that, but is fine now...

These Putinista types are probably still smarting over losing another RT reporter who resigned this morning after explaining that RT is nothing but Russian propaganda who’s policy is to always “blame Ukraine”.

More here...

Russia Today reporter resigns over Flight 17 coverage, says station's number one rule is 'it is always Ukraine's fault'

“Sounds like the pro-Russian amateurish rebels thought it was a Ukrainian military cargo plane.

That sounds like the best explanation so far. A warplane wouldn’t be flying at that height.”

What I heard was Putin’s plane was returning from Brazil and actually crossed the same path like an hour or so after MH17 was shot down. Many are saying Putin was the target. If so then who really shot at the passenger plane? Was it rebels trying to make it seem Ukraine killed Putin, or rebels who really aren’t the brightest thinking it WAS a carrier? Who knows. Will we ever really find out? Doubtful.

I said before Putin bungled arming the separatists. Just now in the shower I realized Vlad did this deliberately so he could hand the President his 'hat' when they telecommed over the latest sanctions yesterday. Set the stage so to speak. :

Hello, Mr. President I just shot down an airliner...now, about those sanctions.....

Oh don't worry - Reuters will get them as soon as they get a photographer there. in the meantime, they have this bit of sensationalism in the article: First came the loud explosion that made buildings rattle: then it started raining bodies.

Oh sure. I could see describing 3000 falling bodies as "raining bodies". But a mere 300 bodies. How "sensational".

That sounds interesting. But why would Putin fly over enemy territory, especially when the shortest route from Brazil to Moscow would be to the north of Ukraine?

Yeah, I do like Putin for lots of reasons — even though I’m POed at him for this Ukraine mess. He stands up to the global homosexual and pop-con agendas. He defends and promotes the Christian Church, including in the middle east, where the US has never — never — lifted a finger to help. and no, that’s not an act.

Yeah, he’s an authoritarian ruler. So what? I reject and resent Wilsonian imperialism that demands that everyone everywhere do it the way we do, or else. He is a nationalist, who wants his country to be strong and influential. Are you gonna hate him because he places Russian interests ahead of American?

I think Putin will figure out that his goons need reining in if Russia is going to be respected and admired. That would reveal him as a real patriot. If just fear is good enough for him, he will come down in my estimation.

An IL-76 would be flying at that altitude and have the same signature

In fact there are reports today the Ukrainian military was in control of the ATC and did have an IL-76 trying to get to blockaded troops, flying on a flight path to the south of where this plane was downed, and hints this airliner even might have been used by the Ukrainians as a decoy to draw attention and possible fire away from their cargo plane - since they lost several this week

The Malay flight for some unexplained reason was flying at the same altitude as the IL-76 (2K feet lower than the Malay pilot had requested) but on a track much farther north than other commercial airliners and over rebel territory

and no, the pilot doesn’t chose his airway and altitude, the ATC (Ukrainians) direct him

May the entire truth be revealed for the sake of justice and for sane decisionmaking by West politicians and the UN

not optimistic

It is too convenient for the US/EU globalists to blame Putin and escalate anti Russian sentiment, even emotional hysteria, among the West

imagine your body suddenly placed in almost zero pressure at 33K feet, in a disintegrating shell of metal, with a windpseed of 400 mph and what happens to your clothing

explosion and tornado victims are sometimes discovered naked and even traffic victims are knocked out of their shoes

mercifully the longest surviving victims would have been unconscious within a minute

Yupperoo. I have questions too, but the article was very vague about it route simply saying the plane’s flight plans “crossed” God only knows where that was. Still, I find it hard to believe we’ll ever know the truth.
