The people behind the idea missed the deadline for this year’s ballot, but now that they have enough signatures — more than 800,000 — they’ve earned a spot on the 2016 ballot. That’s a presidential election year, of course, which means higher turnout. A lot of Democrats are going to end up weighing in on this at the polls.

First off, the breakup of CA will never get past the liberal powerbrokers who much prefer the status quo.. a guaranteed 55 electoral votes for whichever democrat runs for president. Any dilution of that state’s power will be fleeting, as the moonbats fan out to infest the new, relatively conservative states, just as they did to Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Colorado. Then we’ll be faced with 10 more clones of Dianne Feinstein.

Anyway, you might end up with one or two healthy states and the rest basket cases. It might be sickiningly humorous to read whatever state constitutions those wackos come up with.

We might come up with more than two healthy states. Geographically, we're conservative - but we're outnumbered by the libs on the coast.

In the opposite direction, let’s see about combining Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island into one cesspoo....er...state.

"I think it would be good for the nation in just the dividing up of the huge electorial vote that state gets."

Thank you for bringing up electorial votes in connection with the idea of dividing California into smaller states FreeAtlanta. Note that the great political interest in electoral votes is based on controlling the popularly, but wrongly perceived powers of the federal government, as opposed to respecting the federal government's constitutionally limited powers. As a consequence of parents not making sure that their children are being taught the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, many voters are not aware of these limited powers.

“Mexifornia should be one of the names.”

We call it Southern California, technically here.

59 percent opposed — which means only a ten percent switch (via vote fraud, double voting, and dropping it off the media radar to depress turnout) gives us ten new Left Coast senators.

I think basically it should be 3 states. Northern CA, Southern CA, and San Francisco to LA.

I believe California should split into a state for each individual. Only that would be “fair”.

Here is a suggestion ... All blue states should combine into one state. All red states should remain one individual states. Might save the Republic!

if they try to pull this stunt in Cally, then the GOP should fight back and no longer allow democrat registrations in their states,in other words, all newcomers to texas must register as either GOP/Conservative,same with Fla/Ohio/and the rest.

“Just think! Cauliphonya will have 12 ****ed up Senators instead of just two”

I think something along that line will happen. That is why I am not going to vote for it.

:’) If California starts to award its Electoral votes based on the popular vote nationwide, we won’t have to worry about Demwit presidents for years.

BTW, any idea what happened to the Chinatown gun runner?
