The mainstream media tries to pretend that ice remained on Lake Superior only into June.
How about July?asks reader E Stephens.
We should name icebergs still floating in Lake Superior in July after infamous AGW scientists. This one is Gavin, says Tilly LaCampagne via Twitter.

Gata be that northern vortex thingy ... it is proof that global warming is happening!!! G_d save us, we are doomed. Need I say /s
I am so disappointed because our local weather man just said this weather is not going to make it all the way to the Gulf Coast . Not fair!
On a somewhat related note, high of 86 today in normally red hot Sacramento!
They should have named it “The USS Iceberg Gore”.
I like Tilly's sense of humor plus it's a good way to make a point. The guys playing Fussbol on the 'berg during Futbol World Cup season is also a funny twist.
Spring started off fine after a severe winter, dry and warm by the end of April, with flowers bursting into color, trees blooming, and the earthy smells of the new season in the air. May, however, was annoyingly cold . . . It was snowing again on June 7 and continued until . . . over eighteen inches . . . crops and leaves on trees were killed; farmers wearily replanted . . . newly shorn sheep froze to death. June 9 found inch-thick ice on shallow ponds and foot-long icicles were noted . . . exceeding cold snow fell, attended with high wind, which measured in places where it was drifted, 18 to 20 inches in depth. Saturday morning the weather was more severe than it generally is during the storms of winter."-- Vermont, June 15, 1816
July was not much better. Some parts of New England got rain, but Vermont remained dry as a bone. A frost on August 21 killed more beans, potatoes and corn, and the mountains were snow-covered . . . By September, frost had killed corn well south into Massachusetts. By September, most of Vermont had been a full three months without rain. Fires which swept through parched forest land filled the air with acrid smoke and a general darkness. Another killing frost struck the final blow on the tenth, wiping out whatever had managed to survive to that point. A meager crop of unripe potatoes was harvested. Better than nothing . . . That winter, cattle starved for lack of hay . . . .
Proof that American internal combustion engines existed as far back as 1816.
The perfect spot for the World Cup of Foosball!
To all- please ping me to Canadian topics.
Canada Ping!
When I was growing up in Sacramento, I remember it hitting 116 in July. 1995 had over 100 days of triple-digit weather in Sac.
Kinda happy about living in Texas....
The “year without a summer” was probably due to several volcanic eruptions, particularly Tambora, the largest eruption in nearly 2000 years.
The was also a solar minimum that year.
Global cooling.
Global warming.
Climate change
Global Climate Disruption, yeah that’s it. Sounds important and scary, means nothing and everything at same time!
That’s cold!
And yet life, as it always has, goes on. Believers in Global anything, be it cooling or warming, are denying G_d’s supremacy.
You don’t have to be religious or even believe in God to know that the Global Warmers are full of crap! You simply need common sense and a reasoned intellect! That is why so many Democrats believe in Global Warming.
AMEN!
Here is a chart of the past five years of surface temperatures on Lake Superior. Notice the current year in black. It is already pretty close to the peak temperature for the water for this year. I am interested in how this will effect the fall and winter. This water could freeze earlier, and cover the lakes with ice again.
Joe Bastardi has been saying that this coming winter is going to be brutally cold. I expect to see the total ice coverage of the Great Lakes record from 1979 of 94% to be broken. This past winter it hit second place for about 92%.
The temp of the water is only topped out to 7 degrees C which is about 45 degrees F.
It’ll be interesting to see what both Farmers Almanacs say about this winter. They were correct about last winter.
