Execs on notice after Hillary’s book sales tank

There’s hand-wringing and finger-pointing at Simon & Schuster over the soft performance of Hillary Clinton’s “Hard Choices,” for which she got a $14 million advance, sources said — and which was replaced at No. 1 on the best-seller list this week by an “exposé” about Hillary and Bill Clinton.

The former secretary of state’s tome sold 161,000 copies in its first three weeks, according to Nielsen BookScan — but 85,000 of those were sold in the first week. That number has dropped sharply to 48,000 and 28,000 in subsequent weeks, with the most recent numbers due out Wednesday.

She can’t return it, it’s already been “donated” to the foundation that pays her. There are probably strict rules about foundations spending. lol

It would be illegal for her to return the money.

You might be interested in this update on Hillary’s book. Sounds pretty dismal for Simon & Schuster.

Hillary's poor book sales indicate that she has gone stale with the public at large. The constant churn of events, issues, and personalities makes it hard for Presidential candidates to remain attractive from one election to the next. Hillary may simply be past her sell-by date.

Maybe Costco will take the dust cover off of “America” and put it on Hillary’s book.

Exactly.
I suspect this is just a cover item to make it sound like a bad business decision when it was no such thing.

It's getting such stellar reviews on Amazon:

Jeff's computer has helpfully singled out the most helpful favorable and unfavorable review. In this case, both reviews lead to the same conclusion.

I'll bet Jeff would consider that a bug, given his love for Patty Murray.

Is Costco carrying this book?

Yes, but when I went by yesterday they'd been covered up with Ben Carson's book by somebody.

The book flopping is a good sign about her campaign.

Problem is that, the people who would/will vote for Hillary, don't buy books or read them.

Hillary's democratic base is composed of the most ignorant voters in the country, and she's guaranteed at least 45% of the vote, simply from those who are and have become dependent on government for most of their livelihoods.

Sometimes staying in the good graces of the agent is more important than the prospects for one particular book.

In this case, I think the deal was struck before Obama’s obvious dismissal of Hillary as the candidate for 2016. Maybe planned that way by Obama so she could get the money for other lefty causes.

Simon & Schuster is owned by CBS.

Its CEO is one Carolyn K. Reidy, who got her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in 1971; she was therefore in college during the peak years of the counterculture movement.
