Beginning in September, Google plans to block firearm, ammunition, and gun accessory ads.

According to Google Support's "Dangerous Products or Services" page, the company "[wants] to keep people safe both online and offline, so [they] won't allow the promotion of some products or services that cause damage, harm, or injury."

Included in the dangerous products for which ads will be blocked are "Guns & Parts." This covers "functional devices that appear to discharge a projectile at high velocity, whether for sport, self-defense, or combat."

When a company this strong becomes aware, they Can become a threat. Google is well
on it's way to become broken up much like the oil companies of our past.

The traitors of our Constitution may very well become imprisoned for subversion of the Constitution. How dare they regulate us, they do not have that elected authority. And I don't give a crap
what anybody might have to say about free enterprise! My pre answer ro you is simply,

The Constitution isn't a suicide pact! And google does not have state rights and authority.

Isn’t pimping homosexuality the same thing as “supporting dangerous services”. You know, that AIDS thing.

Question, “what does Google gain by this fascist action”? I cannot think of any benefit.

Maybe Google should ban ads on homosexuals. Homosexuals support aids, they run cover for dangerous homosexuals (they never shame the dangerous ones), and they promote these activities for children.

>I think I’m getting sick and tired of Google. Maybe I’ll drop them a line and let them know I’m calling it Quitsville with them

Yep. I have a gmail account; I’m going to move my name to another provider. “Don’t be evil” has definitely become “we will decide for you what is good and what is evil.”

Maybe it’s a byproduct of the aggregation of everyone’s online life, or maybe it’s the *point* of aggregating everyone’s online life; that’s their problem. My choice is ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and I’m opting for ‘no.’

“Start Page

Duck Duck Go

Dog Pile

Ixquick”

Tried them all and quickly rejected them as they don’t do the job for me. I spend too much time looking up technical data and Google/Bing give me a better short list of hits because of the way they ‘learn’ from my searches.

I’ve been using Bing for a year or more. Yes, it’s MS but less PC than Google (I’m not going to get into an argument over that - if you disagree, so be it).

Results (hits) are just about identical.

For private stuff, which now includes Paypal after the post here a few days ago about their new (lack of) privacy policy, I use virtual machines - a technology that anyone interested in decreasing their internet footprint should get familiar with. It’s not complex anymore.

I know there are other search engines out there besides Google. Bing is one. I have stayed away from BING b/c they don’t have their own email setup. Then, there are these three;
Duck Duck Go, Dogpile, Ixquick.
I have not been attracted to these three for what may seem to be a very silly reason; I don’t like the way the names sound. All three of these search tools have a short or minor sound to their vowels. Google has the long sounding vowel of O as in; GOO-Gal
DuckDuckGo = Sounds irritating, Ixquick = Not at all melodious, and hard to spell or remember, Dogpile= Makes me think of guess what? Something repulsive i.e. A pile of Dog waste.

If Google continues reshaping itself to serve the needs of Obama and the other Socialists in the world, I may just have to get used to those other sites, whether I enjoy the sound of the name or not.

Google isn’t going to block search results or websites, they’re simply not going to place paid ads for guns or gun related items.

They are probably allowed to avoid certain types of taxation,
and are able to speed up their ability to learn about and patent many of the new APS now available. Advantages one would expect to be bestowed on a tool of the government. Google is probably not feeling heavy pressure to pay their employees more, or interact with Labor Unions more. It’s what they used to call ‘Favorite Son’ status. Google has climbed into bed with the White House Czars. Better watch your assets, google!

Google should have been sued in to oblivion early on unless they PAID every web site they indexed $$$ for their property. They built their company on other peoples sweat.

That would apply to any search engine, not just Google. Other people's sweat has no value if you can't find it!

You're a blithering idiot!

It's a slippery slope. I don't give a 'Rats ass if they don't carry ads for dangerous products. By and large, I don't care about ads, anyway, unless I'm actively shopping at the time.

But how long until their do-gooder-ness extends to search results? That's the point at which they become worthless to me!
