Don't they teach English anymore?

Nope! It is part and parcel of dumbing down.

I taught English 40 years ago and it was a hassle even then. More so now.

I guess the nurse that refused to give CPR to someone due to policy did the right thing. She was flamed over this.

I want some more!

When I go into Dunkin Donuts, I grab a couple of extra packets of Splenda. I suppose it’s stealing but no one has ever stopped me (I mean I’m talking about taking three when one would do) because most American companies are very generous. It’s what I love about America.

If the vet had been giving out meat dishes, I would have a problem. But a corn muffin and a mayonnaise packet?

Cracker Barrel stepped in it big time if Facebook is anything to go by.

When my cub was little, she always asked that we take some of the little packets of crackers from the basket in restaurants home for her-I would put some in my purse, and no one ever said a thing-I even took the leftover muffins and breadsticks that came with a meal sometimes, too-I suppose I’d be charged for that stuff now?

My husband has run restaurants for over 20 years. The amount of food he is forced to throw out because of stupid health Nazi/government regulations is atrocious. I cry every time I think of the two 20 pound turkeys he was forced to toss because the health inspector saw them on a table rather than in the fridge. They had been on the table for approximately 5 minutes when the Nazi walked in.

I don’t think of a small mayonnaise packet as “food.” If he had been giving away meat, I would have an issue.

Cracker Barrel is one of the most underwhelming places I’ve eaten. I will say that they are very clean, which is excellent, but the food is just meh.

I’ll take Wendy’s Chili everyday over most other food you can get while traveling.

I save condiment packages for the chirren at Halloween.....because I’m a cheap bastid.

I give the little beggars a slice of bread. Together, we have provided them with a ketchup sammich.

As it turns out, a couple of us steal from restaurants! I’m sure the Scrooges here have also dipped into the bread basket and sugar holders on the way out of a fast food joint. Or, woe unto me, took two (instead of one) of those nasty mint balls they have at the register of diners.

Cracker Barrel stepped in it whether we think this is right or wrong, I’m afraid.

"... See how long you stay in business if your employees are giving away stuff for free."

We're all seeing what the economic impact is of firing an employee for giving away a tiny muffin to the needy in the Internet age.

You know, where public billboards like Facebook exist hosting corporate sites welcoming anyone on the face of the Earth to come scribble on.

Boy, this could turn out to be one expensive-assed muffin, huh?

As someone else mentioned, how about the Chinese restaurants that absolutely load you up with duck and soy sauce and generous amounts of fortune cookies! They all need to be fired.

This is the way it’s done nowadays...appeal to people’s emotions instead of their reasoning capability, knowing outrage will ensue.

"May I have some gruel, please. *snickering*"

May I instead have some pinto beans, greens, and cornbread?

With some country ham thrown in for Ramadan.

Thank you for bringing up the wasted food-rules is not the same out here in BFE-there is no Nazi network-so it is common for the owners of restaurants and food stalls at the weekend market to give away the leftover bread, veggie and fruit items at the end of the day. Much of it goes to folks like me and my neighbors who keep a few chickens, a couple of goats, etc-heads of iceberg lettuce are most coveted-but I’m sure some gets consumed by humans as well. Better to give away to someone than waste food...

Age old question: What if they were fresh muffins and everybody who works at the restaurant did it? Then, what if they were stale muffins and the Health Dept found out and fined CB or what if the recipient got sick and sued CB?

And yes, I did mean to say “is” for emphasis on the difference between a city and we uncivilized people in the hinterlands...

What difference does it make (to Fox17) that the person fired was a veteran? Veterans are not little gods, and the employee’s prior military service played no part in this news story

Verizon offers a 10% discount to veterans, I went into their office to take advantage of their generous offer and was told that I'd have to bring in my DD214, no problem, I went home and got it. When I brought it back and showed it, 3 different employees looked at it like they had never seen one, they thanked me for my service and shook my hand. I was a little embarrassed by the extra attention focused on me because I'm a veteran, after all, there are millions of us and my service was nearly a half century ago.

I don't expect special consideration because of my prior military service but when it is offered, such as the discount, I accept.

The first house I ever purchased was backed by the V.A., I paid the loan off and was grateful for the assistance, it was enough for me.
