Do you think the Republicans just lost retaking the Senate due to the Thad Cochran campaign's smear tactics?
Yes or No..opinions.
Yup, the stoopid party rescues the ‘Rats again.
That's news to me, FRiend. I don't recall a concerted effort by Brat to reach out to Democrat voters. And Brat certainly didn't engage in a "Cantor is a racist" smear campaign.
Reportedly, there were some Dem voters who voted for Brat (read: against Cantor), but that movement was not orchestrated by Brat, the way it was by the GOPe in MS.
Seriously? So using the word Democrat is now racist? That is jumped the shark nuts. To think someone running as a Republican used or allowed this to be used as part of his campaign- in a primary no less, against another Republican!!! If this is viewed as being ok with Republicans then they are beyond all reason.
Republicans want a war with the Tea Party, we all know the Tea Party is a code word for conservative, speaking of code words...they better be careful what they wish for...
I really don't see this ending well for Republicans, and for the life of me don't see what they think they gain by going so far left they become dims...the dims are not going to vote for anyone with an R in the Fall, so it seems to me they are cutting off their nose to spite their face.
You know....I’m not altogether sure you aren’t right.
nope, not that it matters to me being in Florida. But like I said in an earlier post in this thread, there are 3 choices for a conservative in MS, 1)write in McDaniels name and vote for him as a write in candidate, 2) vote for the democrat to teach the f’ing RINOs GOP-e a lesson, 3) abstain from voting for this senate race completely. Voting for Cochran is the same crap that was voting for Romeny and McCain. They need to learn a hard and serious lesson. The conservative backlash is going to hurt the RINOs big time in 2014 and in 2016.
The GOPe is Dem Lite. Even if Rs get the majority in the Senate, do you really think the party will mount an impeachment?
**********
Agree. If Rs win the senate, don’t expect much if any change in the direction of the country. Big spending and the expansion of government will continue apace.
Impeachment? No way. Never going to happen. GOP doesn’t have the stomach for it.
It is amazing that people still keep thinking that a GOP majority will make any difference. If there’s one strength the GOP has its snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
The Stupid Party: a well earned moniker if there ever was one. They are losers of the first order. Champions of defeat.
As a conservative the prospect of a GOPe Senate versus a Rats Senate is not a great motivator. In terms of policy I do not see a great deal of separation between Senate Rats and Senate GOPe. Yes there are a few brave conservatives in the Senate but only a few. Ergo control of the Senate means little to conservatives since it will either be Rats or GOPe in control. “Meet the new boss same as the old boss”. This election (TX) I intend to vote 3rd party for senator. I encourage every one to vote 3rd party if the R candidate is not conservative.
Apparently so, Mississippi does not count them. I read the linked article posted below your post.
THIRD
PARTY
I never thought the GOP was going to “win” the Senate anyway (+4), but this ongoing strife will help seal the likelihood that minority status will continue.
Today, in Oregon, a leading leading republlcan state representative endorsed a moderate independent rather than a conservative. This is in a very conservative district. The Republican Party is clearly at war with conservatives. Yes, conservatives can win in Oregon.
There are deeply entrenched, moneyed interests within the GOP that run the party. They like and promote the status quo. Smaller government and less spending is not appealing to them.
These interests will stop at nothing to push back and marginalize the Tea Party at every turn. The GOP is not, and never will be, a viable party for conservatives IMO.
Forget it. I’m working to politically destroy every liberal republican running, either at the primary, or in the general.
The liberal republican party needs to be destroyed to restore America.

The Senate is not worth having if that depraved cockroach is the determinant.
I’m only giving donations to well deserving individual candidates this year and have debated not voting for any Republican who isn’t conservative enough.
Republicans would probably be just as happy to lose the senate, then they can use it as an excuse for getting absolutely nothing accomplished for another 2 years.
If it makes no difference to my life or business if democrats or republicans are elected, why bother to vote for republicans?
Who did you think was better, as in had the resources to fight Monica?
Ed (in Grants Pass)
“Who cares? Dem or Repub majority, the results will be frighteningly similar. The GOPe is Dem Lite. Even if Rs get the majority in the Senate, do you really think the party will mount an impeachment?”
No, but millions of TEA party Americans with Cruz in the Majority party can make a big impact.
Something odd though. Haven’t heard from Sarah Palin today.
Is it “realistic” to choose to vote between two candidates who are both committed to the decline and fall of the nation, albeit at different rates of speed....
I would call it “insanity” to make such a decision.
A well-shared sentiment today. The GOP just gave Conservatives the finger, and expect us to suck it up and tow their line because the Democrats are worse. It is time to spit back in their faces. Literally.
