House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman (R-Calif.) said Monday that he would press IRS Commissioner John Koskinen on whether he has been up front with Congress about the IRS targeting scandal.
“We have some serious questions for the commissioner, the biggest one being, ‘You came before us, you said you’d tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth under oath,” Issa said on Fox News Monday. “Do you believe you told the whole truth?”
“And of course the answer is, he did not tell the whole truth.”
Members of the House Ways & Means Committee already pressed Koskinen last week to explain why Congress wasn’t alerted earlier when the IRS discovered more than two years’ worth of emails from Lois Lerner were lost. Koskinen replied that the IRS knew there was a problem in February, but that they wanted more time to figure it out.
On June 13, the IRS finally told Congress that the emails were missing, but did so in a few sentences buried in a 27-page memo. That led to a blistering hearing last week during which Ways & Means Committee Chairman (R-Mich.) asked for an apology — Koskinen declined to give one.
It also led House Budget Committee Chairman (R-Wis.) to say flatly, “I don’t believe it.”
Issa subpoenaed Koskinen to appear before his own committee today, and Koskinen has agreed to comply with that subpoena. Issa’s hearing starts at 7 p.m. Monday.
On Fox, Issa said he believes the missing emails are part of a coverup in which the government is trying to hide the fact that efforts were made at high levels to apply extra scrutiny to conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status at the IRS.

I wholeheartedly believe Issa is either in on this, or he’s compromised and working to stall / curtail / end this investigation.
Wrong, the longer this takes the better. Few of the mushy middle have any respect for the IRS. We need those people to vote for us this fall. The bigger the win, the harder life becomes for Democrats and our current WH occupant.
They’ll struggle to turn this into a witch hunt, but it isn’t.
It is a dog and pony show with Issa just making stern statements that he’s serious when he obviously he’s not. All he has to do is line those IRS IT guys up and ask them how did this happen and where are those emails and at least one of them will crack and blurt out the truth. He has yet to even go down that road, strangely

Why is only Koskinen being questioned? Get the lower level BIATCHES who were part of the Lerners’ ‘IRS Ladies Tea-Party-bashing caucus’ up before the panel.

I agree with you. I get frustrated at times at the mentality on this forum. If a republican is not lock step in tune with bashing the democrats, he’s a rino or in cahoots etc.
These investigations take time. I remember full well with Nixon, that it took months, then his own party asked him to step down. I ISSA KNOWS THE END GAME. HE MUST KNOW THAT THERE IS PROOF THAT OBAMA WAS IN ON THIS. GIVE IMMUNITY TO A FEW PEOPLE AROUND LOIS LERNER, AND THEY’LL SPILL THE BEANS.
Let this drag on, and I mean drag on. The IRS needs to be dismantled. I’d vote for a democrat who say that. This could be a big rallying cry in November and beyond.
Then after the elections, with a Republican Senate and House, reform taxation, dissolve the IRS and eliminate these nazi thugs.
