White House: Explanations for lost Lerner emails 'entirely reasonable'
The Hill ^ | June 16 2014 | Justin Sink

Explanations provided by the Internal Revenue Service for how it lost two years of former employee Lois Lerner's emails are "entirely reasonable," the White House said on Monday.

"You’ve never heard of a computer crashing before?" White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters traveling with the president aboard Air Force One.

Congressional Republicans have blasted the IRS's admission that it lost Lerner's emails from between 2009 and 2011 because of an apparent computer error. Lerner resigned from the agency amid controversy over charges her division unfairly targeted conservative political groups.

In a statement Monday, House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) accused the IRS of "continued obstruction and game-playing" and announced he had subpoenaed the agency's commissioner to appear before Congress.

"For too long, the IRS has promised to produce requested - and, later, subpoenaed - documents, only to respond later with excuses and inaction," Issa said.

But the White House dismissed Republican complaints as conspiratorial.

"I think it’s entirely reasonable, because it’s the truth and it’s a fact, and speculation otherwise I think is indicative of the kinds of conspiracies that are propagated around this story. And they’re propagated in a way that has left people with a very mistaken impression about what exactly occurred," Earnest said.

Earnest also said the administration had turned over some 67,000 other emails sent or received by Lerner during her tenure at the agency, calling it a "good-faith effort" by the IRS to assist in investigations.

"So if we are trying to hide Lois Lerner’s e-mails from congressional oversight, there’s a pretty large loophole," Earnest said.

"The far-fetched skepticism expressed by some Republican members of Congress I think is not at all surprising and not particularly believable," Earnest added.

Once/if we get enough power, we should turn the IRS on all the RINOs and let them have one last hurrah before disbanding them.

Then we could have Issa investigate it so we’d never get prosecuted.

Subpoena all emails from the White House, Treasury, Department of Justice, FEC, or Democrat offices to Lerner, her assistants, staff, associates, underlings, etc.

Ok, so we go after the people that received her emails and those that sent to her. Subpoena EVERYBODY in her contact list and those in the recipients contact lists as well. It would scare the living shit out of them.

These people assume we are all idiots. They have another thing coming.

Emails DO NOT DISAPPEAR.

And that would be the correct course of action. If we had someone with principle at the head of the House. Unfortunately America is getting what they asked for with lesser evil republican voting.

This is why principle matters. Just like losing Iraq. Just like FF. Just like Bhenghazi. Until people remember that, they get this.

Would the IRS allow a company or individual to use this argument without assuming guilt and taking the most extreme penalty?

Well then, I’m glad that’s cleared up so we can move on to more important matters: Mr. President, how was your golf outing this past weekend?

I doubt the Republican’s sincerity on getting to the bottom of this since they passed it off to DOJ. They had already held Holder in Contempt of Congress and Holder has in essence said “there’s nothing to investigate”. This is Issa’s chance to redeem himself, so far he’s huffed and puffed.

"You’ve never heard of a computer crashing before?" White House spokesman Josh "I'm Dumber Than A Six-Year-Old" Earnest.

We all forget that Their Lordships & Ladyships in Washington don't get their hands dirty with "computers".

They have "people" for those sorts of mundane things.

It appears as though even 37-year-old "You're Joshing" Earnest is no exception to the "we don't do computers" rule at Merka's top universities.

The President is asserting that the IRS doesn’t keep backups of their emails? And it took them a whole YEAR to come up with this zinger?

I told them over and over again that I was not an IT specialist.

Sarah Palin is right.

Obama losing Lois Lerner’s emails is worse than Nixon erasing 19 minutes of tape.

Two years of emails is much more significant than 19 minutes of conversation.

But then Obama’s just being Obama.

If the IRS would only turn over the hard drive of Lois Lerner, I would happily be able to restore those lost two years of data.

Do you know how hard it is to permanently delete data off of a hard drive?

Very hard… you’d have to deliberately do it.

oh yeah, he’s saying this to reporters

And the fact that reporters are repeating this, unquestioningly, says a lot about how mind-numbingly stupid most of "Big Media" is!!
