Modern-Day Russian “Dupes”

There is absolutely no evidence, aside from rhetoric, to suggest that Russia in general and Putin in particular have been converted to Christianity. Instead, what we are witnessing is a massive Russian “active measures” campaign that has ensnared many American conservatives, convincing them that Putin is somehow a legitimate alternative to President Obama’s decadent worldview. It is troubling to see some of these conservatives endorse Russia’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine.

The term “active measures” refers to influence operations that use agents of influence, disinformation and propaganda. ....

Rather than embrace Christianity, the evidence shows Russia has embraced the Russian Orthodox Church, always a tool of Soviet intelligence. As we noted in an AIM Report back in 1984, John Barron’s authoritative book, KGB, said that the KGB’s Directorate 5 is assigned to “clandestinely control religion in the Soviet Union” and to “insure that the Russian Orthodox Church and all other churches serve as instruments of Soviet policy.” Barron added, “The directorate placed KGB officers within the Russian Orthodox Church hierarchy and recruits bonafide clergymen as agents. Much of its work is accomplished through the Council on Religious Affairs, which is heavily staffed with retired and disabled KGB officers.”

Nothing has really changed. In fact, the Russian Orthodox Church is even closer to the regime these days, and is still so morally bankrupt that it published a 2014 calendar in honor of Soviet mass murderer Joseph Stalin. Former KGB officer Konstantin Preobrazhensky has called it “Putin’s Espionage Church,” and devotes a major portion of his book, KGB/FSB’s New Trojan Horse, to its use by the Russian intelligence service.

The percentage of people who are actually feminists, homosexuals and transsexuals and those who advocate for them constitutes a small minority of the overall population. The government that promotes degeneracy is one voted against by 47% of the population, and the 53% that voted for that government voted not so much in support of morally degenerate policies but more for financial, economic and political reasons (welfare etc.)

On top of that, a solid majority of the states, which still have significant power in American govenance, are run by governments who oppose said degeneracy. Have people forgotten so quickly that it was only 10 years ago that we voted in a pro-life and anti-gay American President? Or how the gay marriage referendum failed even in California in the same year where Obama got 61% of the Presidential vote?

When the people begin to vote in governments at all levels of governance for the purpose of continuing degenerative policies, and actually form a constituency composed of more than the liberal elite and their lackies, and the freedoms to assemble, protest and isolate myself from this are taken from me, things will finally begin to look worse than how the Russians have it.

Just saying, the grass often looks greener on the other side and I just don’t think things are nearly as bad as some people here say.

“Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the Century. As for the Russian nation, it became a genuine drama. Tens of millions of our co-citizens and compatriots found themselves outside Russian territory. Moreover, the epidemic of disintegration infected Russia itself” (Vladimir Putin, Annual Address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, April 25, 2005).

Notice that most of Putin’s fans live in the most commie/fascist states in our own country and are more recently descended from Europe than most. In Europe, most of Putin’s fans outside of Russia live in southern Europe and parts of the Balkans (see Roman Empire).

Well written. If someone can possibly show a case for how a resurgent Russia is somehow a threat to vital US national interests, then maybe I would be more concerned, but I just don’t see Russia as a threat to us. Like you wrote, I see the decadent West as a greater threat. We are literally creating an Orwellian state here in the US, and I’m supposed to be worried about Russia? The Oceania superstate is characterized by perpetual war (or threats of war), omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation by propaganda. Yeah, sounds like US.

Russia is going to attack Finland? Uh, sorry. I’m not buying that one bit.

You know, there would be no end to war if America preemptively attacked anyone who could possibly represent a threat someday. While I agree China is on a nationalistic, expansionist campaign, at what point are the threatened nations, like Japan, Vietnam, Australia, Taiwan, and the Philippines responsible for defending themselves? Must America always take on everything herself? I don’t oppose alliances, but that doesn’t mean America should do 90% of the heavy lifting for everyone else.

“No, he doesn’t.”

You’re seriously going to claim Putin doesn’t have the military power necessary to take the Ukraine? If so, BTW, then he’s even less of a threat to America than I pointed out earlier.

If you don’t like the USA, then you should leave. If you prefer Russia to the USA then you should go to Russia. If you support America’s enemies then you are a domestic enemy of all patriotic Americans and are no better than any other libral commie traitor.

The West isn’t just decadent, it’s also heavily over regulated and taxed. The EU isn’t even democratic. Like here, they are being controlled by a bunch of unelected bureaucrats. Before someone claims we have elections, I’m talking about the great regulatory state that is operating largely free of Congressional (and voter) control. Now who is free and who is not?

Usually, chasing foreign dragons is a distraction from the real threat to the Constitution, American politicians.

My brothers and sisters in Christ are those who believe in Christ, repent of their sins, and try to do what God wills. Those brothers and sisters are surely found in Catholic, protestant, and Russian Orthodox churches. That’s not to say that everyone in all of these churches is a believer. In fact, I’d say many churches are full of corruption and heresy. However, Christ’s church is one. There is no division among His sheep no matter what minor doctrinal differences we might have.

Yeah, we did a bang up job meddling in Iraq and Afghanistan. They’re freedom loving, stable, moral democracies now...

In regards to Russian expansionism, why is it OK for us to meddle but wrong for them to do the same? Now I know you say America’s interests should come first, and we do have a wonderful history of supporting democracy. However, your approach seems to be one of constant foreign entanglements. I’m not calling for isolationism. I’m saying we should start treating other countries like we ourselves want to be treated, and frankly, I don’t think we should shed another drop of American blood if it isn’t in defense of America herself. Let other nations take care of their own!

An embarrassment like you doesn't have to believe it, Finland believes it, and Russia threatens it.

I don’t like many aspects of the USA today. That doesn’t mean I favor Russia more. One can be disappointed by the direction the USA is heading without allying oneself with her enemies.

The liberal led USA thinks we need to export our decadence. The neo-cons think we need to militarily meddle all over the world. We built the big stick, aka our military, so that we would NOT normally have to resort to using it. Both the left and neo-con right think the military exists to be used (it exists so that it will hopefully never need to be used).

So, no. I’m not proud of the direction we’ve been heading as a country. This is not the America of our forefathers that was generally a force for good. And as far as foreign relations go, expect to be treated as you treat others. That’s the point I was trying to make earlier.

Finland believes Russia is going to attack them? OK. So some Russian general said, “Military cooperation between Russia and NATO is progressing well and is beneficial to both parties. In contrast, cooperation between Finland and NATO threatens Russia’s security. Finland should not desire NATO membership, rather it should preferably have closer military cooperation with Russia.” Some are calling that a threat. If so, it was a highly veiled one.

The general was also correct from a Russian perspective. We’re pushing for NATO right on the borders of Russia. How would we react if Mexico allied with Russia and let them start hold exercises on our borders? Ah, but Russia is evil and the USA is good, so we are entitled to do whatever we wish in the Russian sphere of influence.

Remember, the West backed an anti-Russian revolution in the Ukraine against the legal government. Ah, but Russia isn’t supposed to worry about that, because we’re the good guys. But you see, we aren’t treating other countries like we ourselves want to be treated. No wonder Russia is paranoid about NATO. They have cause to be. Would we tolerate the same behaviors on our borders? No, we would not.

So you support America no matter what she does? You support our abortion and homosexual advocacy all over the world? You think it’s just ducky every time we aid Muslims? You love our overspending that could ultimately create a world wide economic crisis?

It’s not a black and white thing, ansel12. I support America when she does good. I do not support her when she’s a cause for evil. This administration is doing evil.

Russia supports all of our enemies and is hostile to all our friends. Ukraine and Georgia sent troops to fight alongside Americans in Iraq, so Putin invaded their countries unprovoked to punish them for befriending the USA. That is not a friendly act towards us. KGB Putin wants revenge for Ronald Reagan's victory over the EVIL EMPIRE in the Cold War. So Putin has started the Cold War back up again. Russia will lose the new Cold War just like they lost the last one.

Being friendly toward one orthodox Church does not meanthat one is friendly to Christians in general. Putin supports one orthodox sect, but he is hostile to all other Christians including all Catholic and Protestants and most other Orthodox as well. Putin invaded Georgia, an Orthodox Christian nation in support of ethnic separatist heretics in schism from the Georgian Orthodox Church. Putin does not support Orthodoxy, he supports schismatic heretic terrorists.
