Being friendly toward one orthodox Church does not meanthat one is friendly to Christians in general. Putin supports one orthodox sect, but he is hostile to all other Christians including all Catholic and Protestants and most other Orthodox as well. Putin invaded Georgia, an Orthodox Christian nation in support of ethnic separatist heretics in schism from the Georgian Orthodox Church. Putin does not support Orthodoxy, he supports schismatic heretic terrorists.

The Russian Orthodox Church within Russia has been an arm of the Russian State since the Czars, and became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cheka/NKVD/KGB. The Russian Orthodox Church isn’t the same as the Greek Orthodox Church.
