Aw, shoot! The IRS was trying so hard to come up with documents requested by the House Ways and Means Committee, as part of its investigation into the abuse of power against conservative groups during the 2012 election. But wouldnt you know it? One of those newfangled computer thingamabobs had itself a crash, and all of Tax Exempt Organizations Division director Lois Lerners emails done got erased!
Everything she sent to outside email addresses between January 2009 and April 2011 is lost into the ether. Everything she sent to the White House, the Justice Department, her old chums at the Federal Elections Commission, high-ranking Democrat politicians gone! All theyve got left is email correspondence between Lerner and other IRS employees.
Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI), who asked for all these emails a year ago, is fit to be tied:
The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRSs response to Congressional inquiries. There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.

GREAT ..!!!!!
NOW YOU CAN FIRE ALL OF THEM - SINCE WE CAN’T PROVE WHO DID WHAT.
Maybe some of the innocent IRA people ought to rethink losing emails as an excuse.
Well, golllll uhhh lllyyyyy Sgt. Carter. The dog ate my discharge papers..
But a simple crash would not overwrite, would it? And an overwrite shows evil intent.
In a non-PC world without NSA blackmail all of that would take place. Now Obama can do anything he wants without fear of consequences.
>>> NSA should have them <<<
Dang, I just spewed some cold, carbonated, adult beverage through my nose.
Thanks for that.. :-)
But seriously, the NSA doesn’t spy on Americans. No really, they don’t. Let alone our own government. I mean, who in their right mind would think that anyone in government would betray their country.
They smashed those drives reeeal good.

This needs to be upgraded to a criminal investigation.
They need to get everyone involved in this to testify under oath as to what happened. They need to get an outside firm to investigate the emails and how they disappeared. Even if emails are erased there is usually a record that can be obtained.
Now that’s a good point.
NSA, cough ‘em up.
Also start asking for all emails from her received by the FBI, others at the IRS, Whitehouse as she was sending them to someone.
This kind of excuse won't last long.
Put every single IT person in the organization on the stand under oath, starting from the bottom upwards.
One will break and tell the truth.
I agree with you. Again, as with the Obamacare glitches, this administration seems completely inept when it comes to technology. They act like they're stuck somewhere in the late '90s. But even then, people weren't buying the digital equivalent of "The Dog Ate My Homework" anymore.
The server saves every email, and so does NSA. Destroying your hard drive only makes it more time consuming to locate your emails for anyone who wants them.
Corrupt (aptly) but no. not overwrite. Any good computer nerd can extract data from a dead drive. but if the 1s and 0 are written over with ‘new’ 1s and 0s there is no way to get the old back.
Say you have a full drive and quick format it. all it does is flip flags tricking the OS into thinking the drive is empty. The old data is all there. But if you run a wipe disk on it, it writes over all that stuff and then erases it all. thus there is nothing there to find.
Just ask the NSA. I’m sure they have a copy..................
Damn the bad luck.
Yeah, I think they were probably accidentally lost five or six times and then the drives were accidentally written over a couple times.
Most companies are prosecuted if they don’t produce emails when a government authority requests them.
And the fire was caused by Bush’s reaction to Katrina...Damn BUSHFAULT!
Of course, there are no back-ups....and no one in the gov understands how computer systems works. None of the emails sent to Justice or other depts that have their own servers would have back-ups either. No, of course not.
