Aw, shoot! The IRS was trying so hard to come up with documents requested by the House Ways and Means Committee, as part of its investigation into the abuse of power against conservative groups during the 2012 election. But wouldn’t you know it? One of those newfangled computer thingamabobs had itself a crash, and all of Tax Exempt Organizations Division director Lois Lerner’s emails done got erased!

Everything she sent to outside email addresses between January 2009 and April 2011 is lost into the ether. Everything she sent to the White House, the Justice Department, her old chums at the Federal Elections Commission, high-ranking Democrat politicians – gone! All they’ve got left is email correspondence between Lerner and other IRS employees.

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI), who asked for all these emails a year ago, is fit to be tied:

“The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRS’s response to Congressional inquiries. There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.

“Don’t you mean FCC? But all federal agencies operate the same way.”

That is where I started and was sent to FAA, then back to FCC. After $42,000 in legal fees to an FCC attorney we finally got it straightened out.

Should have been a couple of phone calls.

If any of us pulled this stunt, we’d start serving jail time. These criminals in government (most, if not all of those in government) need brought to justice.

Oh, and the problem to begin with was the FCC wanted us to lower a radio tower 400 feet because it was detrimental to the birds flying around. The FCC said we had to talk to the FAA. I guess birds are now under the management of the FAA.

It was stupid! But, I’m getting used to dealing with the Fed government and expect as much.

The issue isn’t how much WE benefit as much as it is how much THEY suffer.

Can I use this excuse if I get audited? The computer ate the receipts.
********************
Absolutely ,, get yourself a usb thumbdrive ,, place it in your microwave oven for 30 seconds and retain it as your “throwdown” for the IRS ... gosh-darn it ,,, ALL my files and backups were on that drive...

I know there is a height restrictions when next to an air strip, it starts from the center of the strip and goes out in a v-shape.

Should of told them it was for a windmill, they have been ok’ed for killing birds.

We were told by the ISPs that when a client deletes from his/her email account, it’s deleted from the server. Kinda hard to believe.
********************************
Different scenario , the ISP has no interest in the mail ,,, most of the time backups are only kept for 30 days or so in case the server fails ,,, perhaps one full backup a day.. when you use a program like Outlook or Thunderbird you can set it to tell the mail server at the ISP to delete the original or not when the mail is downloaded to your local client.

Not to pick a nit, but its spoliation, as opposed to spoilation. Your version actually makes more sense but its just one of those things.

Yup. I worked for government and emails were saved on servers. A couple of times I deleted messages that I needed to refer to later on. I called I.T. and had them restored.

Besides, even if LL’s sent and received emails disappeared, they had been sent TO others, and received FROM others. It would’ve been a major undertaking to track down every document’s recipient/sender, every cc, every bcc, and wipe them all out. I expect there are a few they missed still lurking out there in cyberspace somewhere.

>> In the legal field of e-discovery, this is known as “spoilation,” and can subject the offender to massive fines and even criminal charges. <<

BINGO - This would be a great chance to throw the book at the IRS. Too bad there are so many gutless wimps in Congress.

NSA should have them

It took the feds a whole year to search the entire planet and destroy the email copies.

This tower is in the middle of nowhere. We already had it approved by the FCC and some idiot there decided birds were being harmed although they have never stepped foot anywhere near the tower.

This is an obvious damn lie for at least two reasons-
1. The server (of whatever functions as the IRS service provider) still has them.

2. NSA has them.
