[Baltimore] Mayor's Office: Downtown Building Won't Be Used To House Refugee Children
WBAL ^ | 6/11/2014

Posted on 06/12/2014 4:20:31 AM PDT by markomalley

It now appears a vacant building in downtown Baltimore won't house refugee children from Central America.

A spokeswoman for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake told WBAL News that the former Metro West building on North Greene Street is no longer being considered as a place to house the children.

Spokeswoman Caron Brace says aides to the mayor were informed of the decision during a meeting today with federal officials..

The building, once used by the Social Security Administration, was being considered as a place to house 9,500 children who were caught at the U.S. Mexican border last month.

Mayor Rawlings-Blake, as well as Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin expressed objections to the plan, noting the building was not equipped to house the children.

Mikulski today said that she hoped the federal government might consider other facilities in Maryland.

"Our first concern is always for the health and safety of the children, some of whom are as young as five years old. Metro West is an empty office building with no infrastructure for residential use. It’s not an appropriate residence for hundreds of children," Mikulski said in an email to WBAL News.

"We encouraged the federal government to look at other facilities in Maryland that have existing dormitory-style accommodations. We also encouraged the federal government to work with faith-based organizations who are experts in the field of child welfare."

No need to move more Democrat voters to Balmer. They need to find facilities in Western Maryland or the Eastern Shore ...

We have lots of empty prisons in Michigan. They would be great for housing elected officials.

Tyrannical Quartering followed the first Tea Party, too.

How about housing them in planes in route back to So. America? Just got through reading an article about the diseases these children have. So of course sending them all over the U.S. is a great idea.

Here’s a word of advice to any state, city, county, town. You ‘touch’ these children and you own them - for life.

Demand they be dumped back at the Mexican Border.

These ‘children’ are the manifestation of all those science fiction movies we saw about he spread of Zombie Viruses, Plagues and alien infestations, except that we will all be brought down with them.

Minimize contact with as much of society as possible. Don't patronize 7-11’s (or any mini-mart type store) or any fast food restaurants.

Wash hands often and keep hand sanitizer with you.

For those with kids in public schools, your folks are SOL.

Many Jewish parents in Europe gave their children up (in most cases they never saw them again) to save them from the Nazis. That was an act of unselfishness.

In this case, it’s clear that the parents are sending the children over the borders in the expectation that the U.S. (family reunification, ya know) will allow the parents to follow.

The children are innocent, but they need to be returned to their families (like Elian Gonzalez was). Our laws are not being enforced and until they are, any talk of immigration reform is pandering.

Downtown Building Won’t Be Used To House Refugee Children...
++++++++++
Maybe the compassionate Brit Humes can put up some of them on his estate.

Hume: “They are and that’s a very serious problem that must be dealt with on an emergency basis. But I have seen some of these kids. A youth home where I serve on the board here in Virginia has taken in dozens of them. They are remarkable kids from what I have seen of them. They are well behaved. When meals are served some of them weep at the fact that they’re eating better than their families can back home. They wait til all are served before they’ll eat. They turn up at prayer services. This an extraordinary breed of young children. They potentially could make an enormous contribution to this country if we can find a way to house them and care for them and let them stay”.

Every Obama supporter should be required to take in one of those kids.

We need to put a price on this..some kind of estimate as to what it is going to cost the taxpayers for each of these kids over, say, the next 10 years..probably come out well in excess of $500k@

http://money.cnn.com/2013/08/14/pf/cost-children/index.html puts the normal cost to raise a child at $241,000. Since these kids will be raised by government, it will be higher.

Sterilize them and send them back to wherever they were born.

The children are innocent, but they need to be returned to their families (like Elian Gonzalez was).

How different the story was then - a Cuban child made it to the United States whose mother died on the way, and the child's relatives sought asylum for Elian. But the government argued that no such asylum was possible, because no one had standing to argue for the child, and therefore he had to be sent back to Cuba.

So legally speaking, what is different for all the children rounded up by INS? By the same legal theory used against Elian Gonzales, all of the unaccompanied minors in INS custody should be returned to their country of origin.

Of course that won't happen because they're not Cuban, and likely to vote Republican. Instead of sending in armed INS agents on a raid to tear one child away from his extended family, our present administration is planning on having thousands of children stay in the USA, away from their families.

The hypocrisy of modern Democrats is unbounded.

Actually, assuming that there’s no way to move them back, my preference would be for good Conservative Southern Baptist families to take them.

They’d be raised in the Christian tradition with strong emphasis on duty to God, country and family, a sense of independence, individualism and self reliance ... and a very healthy distrust of goverent.

Which is probably why HHS is putting in all those additional fostering requirements.

Why in is no one asking how in the hell these "children" got all the way to the US border by themselves?

Deport them. All of them. Now. I'm sorry. I don't care. I care more for our country.

I think the only way to fix this is dump them at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and drive off. After about 200 buses, the problem would be mysteriously solved. If they are dumped in Texas and AZ, it will never be fixed as those are red states.
