Yes It’s Real: GlobalChange.Gov
Townhall.com ^ | May 8, 2014 | John Ransom

CS Lewis warned us about men without chests. That is technocrats who use what Winston Churchill called “the lights of perverted science” to play God without ethics, without morality, without responsibility.

And now they have a website.

It's called globalchange.gov.

And they have a legal mandate too, not just to investigate so-called climate change, but to investigate “global change” in general.

“The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP,)” says the website, “was established by Presidential Initiative in 1989 and mandated by Congress in the Global Change Research Act (GCRA) of 1990 to ‘assist the Nation and the world to understand, assess, predict, and respond to human-induced and natural processes of global change.’”

Wow.

And whatever else that open-ended mission statement means, one thing you can be sure of is that the USGCRP will get shriller, more strident and more partisan as the science behind so-called “global change” becomes more damning to their hypothesis.

Their global change is nicely laid out in U.N. Agenda 21, and includes reducing the human population by as much as 85%. Oh, and under a new world order led by them as well.

Is it 1776 yet?

It’s that “respond to” that’s the killer.

The “consensus” lie;

“Don’t look now, but maybe a scientific consensus exists concerning global warming after all. Only 36 percent of geoscientists and engineers believe that humans are creating a global warming crisis, according to a survey reported in the peer-reviewed Organization Studies. By contrast, a strong majority of the 1,077 respondents believe that nature is the primary cause of recent global warming and/or that future global warming will not be a very serious problem.”

Dr. Bogus Pachysandra:".. By contrast, a strong majority of the 1,077 respondents believe that nature is the primary cause of recent global warming
and/or that future global warming will not be a very serious problem.”

But I am sure the liberal media will give this majority of scientists a voice
so that they could give evidence contrary to all " the science is in " currently being politically touted in the media .
Interesting that we never hear from this silent 64% majority of scientists .../sarc
Another "Inconvenient Truth " ?

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

This initiative is going to have disastrous impact on the lives of millions across the fruity plain. They will make electricity unaffordable for millions and focus on vehicle emissions.

There won't be any of "them" left to rule. Top dog will ensure that anybody capable of
changing their minds, and support, be killed first. And it will be the one they supported
who eliminates them.

But hey, it's for the greater good of power.

The Marxist Media is also silent about the 31,000 scientists that agree that the the whole AGW notion is a scam.

...The silence is deafening!

The Communists in the Washington politburo are working on a law to make the Sun obey them.

What Ransom is warning about is real and worth warning about, but his take on Lewis's warning is a bit narrow. The "men without chests" are not only the 'debunkers' of traditional virtue, but those who grew up under their tutelage without any proper notion of virtue.

The full quotation at the end of the (first) chapter "Men Without Chests" in Lewis's magnificent The Abolition of Man is

We were told it all long ago by Plato. As the king governs by his executive, so Reason in man must rule the mere appetites by means of the 'spirited element'. "The head rules the belly through the chest -- the seat, as Alanus tells us, of Magnanimity," of emotions organized by trained habit into stable sentiments. The Chest -- Magnanimity -- Sentiment -- these are the indispensable liaison officers between cerebral man and visceral man. It may even be said that it is by this middle element that man is man: for by his intellect he is mere spirit and by his appetite mere animal.

The operation of The Green Book and its kind is to produce what may be called Men without Chests. It is an outrage that they should be commonly spoken of as Intellectuals. This gives them the chance to say that he who attacks them attacks Intelligence. It is not so. They are not distinguished from other men by any unusual skill in finding truth nor any virginal ardour to pursue her. Indeed it would be strange if they were: a persevering devotion to truth, a nice sense of intellectual honour, cannot be long maintained without the aid of a sentiment which Gaius and Titius could debunk as easily as any other. It is not excess of thought but defect of fertile and generous emotion that marks them out. Their heads are no bigger than the ordinary: it is the atrophy of the chest beneath that makes them seem so.

And all the time — such is the tragi-comedy of our situation — we continue to clamour for those very qualities we are rendering impossible. You can hardly open a periodical without coming across the statement that what our civilization needs is more 'drive', or dynamism, or self-sacrifice, or 'creativity'. In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.

As you can see what Lewis calls men without chests, while including the "technocrats" Ransom rightly decries, include also the shallow "hipsters" who frequent coffeehouses and fancy themselves very cultured, and in general "liberals" who are void of any magnanimity of their own and fancy that they are "good people" because they advocate the state undertaking policies which purport to succor the poor, but in fact rob the poor of virtue and enterprise, and even the masses of the poor so mistreated by mal-education and the sense of "entitlement" created by entitlement programs -- though these last chest-less masses do not (unlike the technocrats, hipsters and liberals) fancy themselves to be intellectuals.

The right (less rinos) keep arguing global warming/climate change.... It’s not about the weather or Mother Earth (why did my ipad force Mother Earth to be capitalized? It doesn’t auto cap “father god” to be capitalized.) It’s about controlling people. Everything the left does is about having power over the masses. We must bring up the fact that the left wants or control us by making us drive coffins on wheels or invest in energy companies that were not meant to make energy, but to give money to political friends,.....then we add that 67% of scientist don’t agree AND the lefts assumptions are not based on science, rather personal opinions of people who need grant money to survive.

For those that haven't read this

http://www.globalchange.gov/what-we-do/advance-global-change-science

Though climate change is a central theme of our research, we have a broader mandate that urges a deeper integration of climate change with other critical dimensions of global change, including changes in land use and land cover and human alteration of key biogeochemical cycles. This broader view is essential for effective responses to global change because such decisions rarely involve climate change in isolation. Particularly at local scales and in the near term, stressors like urbanization and unsustainable agricultural practices can interact with climate change to affect ecosystems, water and food supplies, and human health.
Now we have the answer to what is the driving force behind all the localized regs we've seen pushed the past decade, including 'mitigation factors' such as we've seen recently reported in Nevada.

Budget, fwiw.

All I needed to see was “Department of State” listed in the budget to know who the propaganda machine monger will be (DOS usually = CIA). They are throwing an awful lot of money to prop up their scheme aren’t they?
