Young adults who smoke marijuana may be at risk for serious or even fatal heart problems, according to a study by French researchers on Wednesday.

The findings in the Journal of the American Heart Association raises new concerns about the safety of marijuana, just as many parts of the world are relaxing laws on its use and medicinal marijuana is gaining popularity for treating certain health conditions. ...

Smoking = bad, evil, health hazard

Marijuana smoking = good, medically effective, harmless

Inhaling burning substances of any kind is never a good idea.

Of course, neither is torching the Fourth Amendment and states' rights.

Just like tobacco in that regard. Of course, we don’t arrest and lock up tobacco users. Yet.

Of course smoking anything puts stress on the heat/lungs. However more and more people are vaporizing it rather than smoking now. The vaporizers are as small as pens, very cheap and user friendly.

Pot doesn't need a solvent to vaporize either. You can directly heat your dry herb with no additives. Tobacco requires glycol or something similar that we don't yet know longterm effects of.

we're in for it....thankyou to undisciplined, pleasure seeking sloths who thought making this junk legal was going to be a panacea....

they will have to tax the hell out of it to cover "problem" smokers and users and eventually we'll have endless lawsuits and I wish them all good luck....

the price with taxes will make more young people turn to crime to either buy it or to just steal it....

libtards.....

I like how this one line is tossed in there, with no other context:

“People with pre-existing conditions appeared most vulnerable, the study added.”

Cause and exacerbate are two different things.

Caffeine, tobacco, sugar, sex, physical activity and tons of other things have an increased potential for dangerous results for “People with pre-existing conditions”

I suspect when the secrets are revealed, we will find that marijuana is not the sweet li’l innocent drug it is touted to be. Are the other drugs innocent? No. Could you pick worse things than pot to get high on? Yes. Should you smoke pot thinking there can be zero consequences? No.

Just my thoughts, but as one gets older time becomes more expensive and one wants to waste less of it. What do I have to show for the time I wasted smoking marijuana? Zip. Oh, lost money, lost productivity? Absolutely.

I have no one to blame but myself for choosing to smoke it, but I can offer my assessment of it from a sizeable distance now: DONT WASTE YOUR (VERY PRECIOUS) TIME. This could apply to a bunch of other things as well, but we are talking about pot.

Want a laugh? One doctor in the article said he ruled out all other risk factors except Cannabis. Apparently he found a group of young people who don’t have anything to do with caffeine, tobacco, sugar, sex, or physical activity.

This will be hidden by the media as state after state rushes to push as much pot as possible into the lungs of their citizens, at the same time as they condemn E-cigarettes.

just more mounting evidence that the pothead movment is not about “medical” but more about being a useless stoner.

What lawsuits? The same number of lawsuits there are because alcohol & cigarettes are legal in Colorado? Try again.

It was never about "medical use," that was a transparent ruse that worked on willing collaborators only. The fact is, a ruling junta prefers their subject population to be docile and passive--and marijuana is the perfect vehicle to deliver that desired mental state.

The truth is that 99.9% of people can harmlessly eat or vaporize this natural plant that has been used in medicine for thousands of years. There has not been ONE recorded case of damage from it. Not even one story in all recorded history. Not one bad before-after brain scan with all our imaging technology. Not one study of twins confirming damage. Not one animal damaged in a lab from doses far exceeding anything in real life. ZERO.

Yet alcohol is 100% guaranteed to rot every single organ in the body. You can take out the organs and physically see the rot with your own eyes. The fact that booze and smokeable tobacco remain legal is proof that this policy is a lie and not "for the children".

The truth is that many people have become comfortable making money from hemp prohibition and don't want it to change. Our entire policy on hemp/cannabis is based on this corruption.

Of course some people will become compulsive users but we have also seen people leaving babies to starve for game and TV addiction. Many people waste their lives watching tabloids and TV. Should we ban everything pleasurable for a few weak people? NOTHING in this world is harmless and all is relative.
