This is what makes a college degree not worth any more than a piece of paper.
My roommate in college was black, I’m white. We didn’t know each other but were assigned to the room before Freshman year. She sent me a letter introducing herself with a picture, at 18 I didn’t think anything of it but I wonder if she was wondering if I was black or racist? Anyway, I called her that summer and we talked for two hours. I don’t remember ever filling out a questionnaire but they had us perfectly matched, conservative, grew up in a small town, lots of similar likes. We stayed roommates for the duration. The one thing that always bothered her was that she said she knew people thought she was only there because of AA. She was very much against it, as she thought it made people think she was stupid when she had the grades and test scores to get in. It also drove us both nuts when once a month we’d get a knock on the door and the radical Black Student Union would be there to recruit her. She would tell them she wasn’t interested and they’d keep sticking fliers in our mailbox and coming back. They told her she shouldn’t be roommates with me. She said why, I have more in common with her then you! They called her every name in the book. Said she was blind and betraying her race. That I was some rich white girl she was trying to be like, I’m actually quite sure her family was much better off then mine. We had an American flag up in our room and they complained about me putting up the “racist” flag. She had put up the flag, honoring her brother who was in Kuwait, and of course I had no problem with it. When they found this out she was then called brainwashed. I don’t know how she put up with it all. We had both black and white students in our group of friends, but she was constantly harassed. She would be a great person to be an administrator at UM. Then again, she wanted a real job and was into Physics!
She is probably used to getting everything else without achievement.
I mean, the hair-do ALONE should disqualify her.
Why not admit unqualified black folks?
We did it with our POTUS.
Look for greener pastures, a school that is a better fit, simple as that...
“The student, Brooke Kimbrough, ...”
********************
Stu: This is James Kimbrough.
Kimbrough: Nice to meet you, pleasure, thanks for coming in.
George: Kimbrough.
Jerry: Don’t spell.
George: K-I-M-B-R-O-U-G-H
Kimbrough: That’s right.
George: It’s a talent I have.
From my understanding, that is NOT true. As far as I know, the U of M (under the "leadership" of outgoing president Mary Sue Coleman) has not tweaked its undergrad admissions policy to bring it into conformity with the SCOTUS decision in Gratz v. Bollinger and Prop 2.
BTW, Jennifer Gratz never entered the U of M, but went to college somewhere else. I'm pretty sure that this Kimbrough girl, instead of making a big stink about U of M's rejection, can get admitted to MSU, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, or Central Michigan.
Anyone want to bet that most of the unqualified students would turn out to have 4.3 speed in the 100 or have averaged 34pts and 16 rebounds in high school?
“I believe that I have been rejected because of the morals that I stand for””
Her belief system gets an “F”.
