If it is legal and uncle Jack, brother Tom and even Mom takes a hit now and then little Timmy will have NO inhibitions. FACT.

It is also possible to drink 6 or 8 beers a week with no long term neurological issues.

The evidence is that even occasional pot use contributes to psychosis and PERMANENT intellectual impairment.

Anyone who has spent time around dopers knows they are often 6 bricks short of a load.A drunk can get sober and become a fairly normal person as stoner non-high still talks: “Like, uh, you know, I sorta think, well maybe, what was the question?” Even when they haven’t used for years.

At least that is my experience

Here’s the difference.

The affects of alcohol take longer to be felt than the affects of pot.

As a result, the pot smoker is done, while the drinker has deluded himself that he can have more.

I have to wonder, with all the monkeys in cages subjected to enormous amounts of marijuana smoke for years at a time in goverment labs, why none of those researchers ever noted brain changes in those subjects? are monkeys immune to the effects?

Irrelevant: monkeys don't mind having monkeys on their backs. :)

It’s a good thing that alcohol is completely safe and has no harmful affects upon its users or society at large.

Of course not. Which is why these items should not be used by the under 18 year old crowd.

By adults is another matter.

Would you say that most people who use “pot” consume alcohol at the same time.?? That's the way a couple of my buddy's (60s hippies) operate...

There is some circumstantial evidence to support you assertion:

We will know with more certainty after the trial, as pot is going to be on center stage, as it will for the kid who jumped off a balcony.

I predict we here in CO will rescind the pot laws.

Weak are the worshippers of a weed. Looks like they’re brain damaged, too.

The stupid are too stupid to realize how stupid they are. Intelligent people who are honest with themselves will recognize these shortcomings and try to correct or work around them

I didn't say moderate drinking was as injurious as marijuana use or injurious at all, but it's undeniable that it causes big problems with some people;i.e. alcoholics. And you're right, drinkers usually seem normal when not bombed. But that can depend on how long they've been drunks.

I don’t know ?

My name is John.

I’m an alcoholic.

I drink out of boredom.

I drink, because I think, the only way I can express my thoughts is to get in an uninhibited state. Most people I meet or engage in conversation are completely clueless.

When I meet a “Smart” person, I have no interest in drinking etc..

Sadly, most people are dull or thoughtless.

I’m not a very social person, I know.

well, having a bunch of self inflicted losers who then are a drain on society, cannot perform work right, cannot think right, cannot make judgements right...and you demand that society PREVENT STOPPING this self abuse is actually Desireable???

You have more screws loose than the dopers...

Quite frankly, I don’t care if some people want to smoke pot. And, I don’t want them to go to jail either. I also don’t want to pay for their rehab or give them preferential medical treatment. When they want treatment, they will have to rely on the charity of their neighbors.
