A 30-year-old woman shot and killed a teenage boy in Richmond after the two - who had a child together - argued over the victim's girlfriend, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Melinda Gaffney surrendered Monday to San Francisco police in connection with the April 8 slaying of Terrance Forks, 16, outside the Crescent Park apartment complex.
Gaffney shot the boy during the latest in a series of arguments over Terrance's girlfriend, said Contra Costa County prosecutor Mary Knox.
Gaffney fled in a Lexus that was later recovered, police said.

Forks was an eleventh grader at El Cerritio High School. Friends KTVU spoke with Wednesday said he loved basketballl and football.
Police say after the shooting a large crowd formed, and there was some hostility leveled at officers. So Richmond received help from nearby law enforcement agencies.
“People were just shocked to see a young person suffering and dying. He passed away at the scene. We don’t normally have to call for mutual aid,” said Gagen.
Investigators aren’t sure what prompted the shooting, but said there had been some bad feelings between Gaffney and Forks’ family.

Just a hunch here but this ‘couple’ would seem to me to have been ideal guests for the Jerry Springer Show, or the Maury Povich “Baby Daddy” Show.

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I thought the preferred method in life was to get married first BEFORE popping out chilluns.
Then my son explained to me that this is way you get “mo’ check”, as the sole adult in the household with dependent children, the more the better.
Then, you can also get a cash benefit for providing childcare, and having your chilluns in childcare. So, you merely swap kids daily with another “single mother” in same circumstance, and order up that new Lexus. With rims.

I watched a new age Divorce Court yesterday. The errant new husband and wife were arguing over trivial crap.
It came out in TV testimony he had 12 sons and 15 daughters by other women. He was less than 30 years old based on appearance. At one point he had 5 wimmins pregnant at the same time.
This whole thing isn’t about marriage, it isn’t about children for children’s sake. It is about money. Government money. Money that has to have dependents to be assigned. Babies, babies and mo babies so that EBT, SSI, TANF, WICs, Section 8 and ObamaPhones can flow freely.
When you have 27 kids spread among 8-12 brood cows, that’s 3-4 chilluns each. What that also gets you is about $6000 each year in EITC.
We are not going to survive this as a country. My suggestion is that anyone with children or grand children is to find some place in this world to go, or to fully arm yourself for the social entitlement Armageddon that is coming when the money runs out.
