“White Racists Who Wouldn’t Vote for Obama”

Didn’t all those old-time Democrats die a generation ago?

There was one still around, Frazier Glenn Cross comes to mind. The man is reported to be a former “Grand Dragon” of the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

And no matter what Hank Aaron says (and Hank is a fine person in just about every other aspect), the Republicans in no way support or have any part in the KKK. It was always a Democrat “shock troop” operation, even putting their clout into national Democrat conventions, to the point where Robert Byrd could get elected to the Senate, and remain there until death, with nary a murmur from the Democrat National Committee.

Off topic but a point that needs to be made in terms for how we view each other and the supposed “progress” we make as a society. I put on ESPN Radio today for a few minutes. I don't generally listen to sports talk radio but came across a host who said that for black NBA players, it is considered (I forget the exact wording used) bad to be dunked on by “a white guy,” he said he knew this to be true and even mentioned Euro white players specifically. He also claimed that he saw more black-on-white skirmishes in the last two years than at any other point. If this is true, the NBA should investigate.

There was a thread posted by a perfect lady or some such name, not bothering to ping) supporting Common Core’s excellence.

Wow. Was she quickly shown the door?

A simple comma after sure, to indicate a pause.

Isn't it obvious? Don't you expect at least correct grammar from your kid's curriculum?

Sheesh.

I am sorry to see the only thing you got out of this article was a missing comma.

My son, who has been fighting Common Core in Wisconsin for the last year, sent me this and I thought it was important enough to post.

Common Core must be stopped or we will lose the next generation to the collective.

Agree! Thanks for posting.

It would have been grammatically correct to say "Surely..." But why should we expect correct grammar? It's just a textbook after all.

There are only two sure wauys of getting out of common core.

1. Get rid of the department of education. Caution, presidential candidates lie about doing this, ie Reagan.

2. Secede, only states have to obey the doe, free nations do not have to.

I have seen a PSA over the last few days claiming that Common Core is being misrepresented. There is a huge push on for it which immediately tells me that it is more garbage from the left.

I am thankful my kids are out of school and had me at home day in and day out when they were to set them straight about the junk their textbooks were pushing.

Public school is the enemy of a free society.

That is NOT the only thing I got out of it. The political bent of it i.e. bashing of white Americans, was the main thing. But that a curriculum so wanting in proper English — no doubt pushed by the federal Department of EDUCATION — is being shoved on schools is by itself an outrage.

The Home School Legal Defense Association is a good place to start for parents wanting to GET AWAY from public schools.

Homeschooling is not as difficult as some think.

We in Florida are lucky to have some very good state laws regarding homeschooling.

But HSLDA is an organization that can help you NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE!

Parents do not have to be teachers, parents instead are DIRECTING THE EDUCATION of their children.

Alpha Omega Press (AOP) is a curriculum provider that has online curriculums (as well as standard book and paper ones) through high school. Homeschool groups in communities often have co-ops that have teachers WITH teaching certificates that provide education--our child took freshman biology through such a program. "Teaching Textbooks" is a computer based mathematics program that teaches math all the way through pre-calculus and offers placement tests for your kid. EVERY PROBLEM is explained. It is outstanding.

All I am saying is homeschool allows YOU to be in control of YOUR kid's education. If s/he is having difficulties on one subject, you know to concentrate. If s/he is exceedingly GOOD at something, no need to hold them back "at their grade level". I know the schools SAY they will help your kid work at a "challenging" level. Bunk.

Kids in schools, sometimes at NO fault of the teachers, are treated like cattle. Sardines. Drones.

Not with homeschool. Your kid gets an education designed for HIM.

Is it expensive? Sure can be, but not when you consider the investment in a little one's future. Plus, you can often find GREAT DEALS on ebay, at homeschool conventions, the (gasp) LIBRARY....

But the place to start is HSLDA.org.

She is someone who is in favor of Common Core. I had a somewhat acrimonious exchange with her. I don’t think her account has been terminated, nor should it have been, IMO. That is simply her opinion, that Common Core is a good thing and we are wrong for opposing it. And, in her view, not just wrong, but irrationally wrong.

That person may be a conservative in some respects, and claims to be against “big government”, but when it something that affects her affairs directly as Common Core does, that is where she was all for big government.

Where she and I differed was when she painted all Freepers as the equivalent of General Jack Ripper (From “Dr. Strangelove”) because many of us are against big, bloated government. She couldn’t understand why we view Common Core as more of the same, which it IS.

There are trolls on the education threads who are posing as “conservatives”, yet their arguments defending the government's single-payer schools sound just like whiny communists ( oops! “liberals”) . These government school defending arguments are full of personal attack, psychological mind reading, red herrings, non-sequiturs and strawmen.

Wintertime, you said it ... perfectly. I would have said that the public school defenders don’t debate honestly, but your description is more detailed and accurate.
