Bundy ranch dispute with federal land agency draws variety of foot soldiers
Las Vegas Review Journal ^ | April 13, 2014 | By BEN BOTKIN

BUNKERVILLE — Cliven Bundy’s fight with the Bureau of Land Management over the federal agency’s roundup of his cattle attracted a diverse group of foot soldiers: fellow ranchers, Las Vegans and militia and patriot groups were among them.

Their battle cry is the U.S. Constitution and liberty. They fear the federal government overstepping its bounds at every turn. This concern, in their view, applies to those from all walks of life, be it a rural Southern Nevada rancher or a militia member from northern Montana.

Ultimately, the Bundy protest — which was defused Saturday when federal land officials agreed to end the weeklong roundup that culminated in a 20-minute standoff between armed protesters and law enforcement officers — became an outlet for those wanting to voice their opinions about government overreach and any perceived infringement of constitutional rights.

Armed militia members wore holstered weapons and mingled with cowboy-hatted ranchers throughout the week. Tents popped up across the landscape and vehicles became temporary bunks as the Bundy ranch, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, turned into a gathering place for traveling pilgrims from across the nation.

“We’re all in this together,” said Rick Lovelien, 50, a militia member from Libby, Mont., with the Montana State Defense Force.

The armed standoff ended, Lovelien said, the way it should have — with the cattle returning to the land.

I agree and will go one further, most of America doesnt understand what is going on out there but through 20 second news clips. Think this isnt an effort to show the ignorant public those crazy bitter clinger conservatives are at it again? Think this isnt an image the media is praying carries the day come election time? You can count on it.

Do not confuse ‘fair’ with laws
for now, fair or not they are laws
were they unfair when beef prices were low and he still didn’t pay?
those laws have been the law and he has not paid for over 20 years

I am just saying I think this was orchestrated and bundy played right into it
and in the process he duped a lot of good patriotic people

I see your point and you are right
BUT that doesn’t change how Bundy recated
or how the good people who showed up to defend what they thought was a righteous cause, how those good people will be portrayed by BO Reid and the media

“I am just sorry Bundy decided he didn’t have to follow the laws and chose this way to act.”

That appears to be a matter of opinion. But even if he did, there is plenty of precedence from Washington...

I listened to him this morning and I have to agree with you. I find restrictions on my CCW such as the inability to carry when I walk my children into school to be an infringement and in direct violation of my 2nd amendment rights but that doesnt mean I can say to hell with it and walk in carrying anyway.

> Consternation to the enemy! The Marxists are NOT happy with this outcome. On the other hand, we Constitutionalists are very happy.

Never rest and always be vigilant because if there one thing I know from working with the government is that are most likely laying strategies down right now to attack with a new veangance using subversive tactics. They may even mobilize the fellow Alinskytes and the MSM to show up and use mental manipulation tactics on them to wear them down before driving in a new wave of BLM’ers and DHS brownshirt crews. They should be strategizing for ther return as well and make sure every square inch of that ranch is hooked up to sureillance cameras with backup batteries. The truth and educating the “other peadants” about their methods is how you deal with tyrrany on the lowest levels.

jar head is correct
Freepers watch MSM ( if you can stomach it ) and see how long it for them to mock the people who showed up
and how long it takes untl some Dem Pol will point to this and say , “ THIS is why we need gun registration. The government people only pulled back because the crazed rednecks were getting ready to shoot”

wait for it. That theme isn’t long in coming

Why isn’t the federal government paying taxes to the Indians they stole it from?

> Who decided that the BLM was acting unconstitutionally? Not the courts, Bundy has lost all of his court battles.

Sorta like trying to win a hand of poker with a sleight of hand magician is’n’t it?

You will notice that ace Nevada reporters, Steve Sebelius, Jon Ralston and John L Smith were all clueless about any hint of Reid involvement in Bundy Ranch or Solar. Castrato choir.

In fact, Sebelius and Ralston actively blackballed my book.

jsa
I know that was sarc

However the use of the word ‘ stole’ is funny since most Indians also stole from other Indians at different points in history.

and I am sure the Indians only wished they could have defeated the whites.

I’m just letting everyone know that I’m gearing up. I have ten times as much info on Reid as anyone. I didn’t have the Rory Solar stuff, but now that I do I’m tying tons of things together.

Don’t know how fast i can compile it all. But my material goes back 25 years and includes commies! Hoorah!

So basically you are saying “Don’t anybody take a stand and defy federal overlords because they’ll say bad things about us.”

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

It was just food for thought. Our current thugocracy seems to think they can lay claim to just about anything and seize it. Sort of reminds me of a Walking Dead episide. Didn’t work out for that guy either...

Bundy doesn’t have the right to decide he won’t pay fees anymore and not expect consequences

Cow eating fees???

Why should this producer pay anything to the feds after we paid the feds hundreds of billion to protect our sovereignty and borders, all while they aided and abetted tens of millions from Mexico to trespass on our lands?

Then the feds turn around and force us all to pay literally hundreds of billions more ANNUALLY to support them, feed them, house them, educate and hospitalize them?

Why are we paying hundreds of billions for their fees?

Do you see something terribly wrong here?

I’m kinda with you on that!

I posted the following to a similar thread yesterday .. no responses.

I hope that this wont brand me forever on FR as a nut-job but I have to ask.

We have a crooked government and one who is trying desperately to take our weapons away.

The nut-job question: Would it be beyond this regime to find folks who have nothing to lose .. disease, mental case (Not like me) 8) or just someone who needs cash to help a loved one out of a serious illness?

They (the government) offer to take care of your loved one’s for the rest of their life if you will do one thing for them.

Now suppose this corrupt government went throughout the country, finding folks in similar situations and paying them off to create havoc everywhere, using all types of arms, just to turn up the heat on weapons control? hmmm?

Just sayin

Nut job conspiracy/>
