George Will: ‘I’m quite confident that we’re going to rebel against this abusive government’
The Blaze ^ | Apr. 11, 2014 | Benjamin Weingarten

Posted on 04/14/2014 9:14:22 AM PDT by COUNTrecount

In an interview with TheBlaze in connection with the release of his new book, “A Nice Little Place on the North Side: Wrigley Field at One Hundred,” we spoke with columnist and author George Will on all things baseball and his unified theory of beer, and then moved on to the arguably more important topic of the state of the union, touching on everything from the American founding, Will’s affinity for the Tea Party, to 2016, to immigration.

Among other explosive comments, Will told us that he is “quite confident that we’re going to rebel against this abusive government…sooner or later arithmetic is going to force realism on us.”

There’s the old cliché that history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes. Is there a time in world history that you think is most analogous to today, and what country do you think in that era represented America? In other words, are we in World War I, and America is the British Empire, or is this World War II, or are we Rome? I’m curious as to your thoughts.

Will: Well ever since at about the time of the American founding, Edward Gibbon wrote “The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire,” people have been fascinated by the threat that democracies would decay; that history would be cyclical not linear; that decay and decline was inevitable; that the seeds of destruction were in particular regimes and particularly in democracies. And clearly the American founders worried about this. And Lincoln worried about it at Gettysburg, that the question was “Whether we shall long endure this form of government.”

I think that we’re in a period today comparable to the American founding period

So I think that we’re in a period today comparable to the American founding period in two senses:

A `banana republic’ is a political science term for a politically unstable country whose economy is largely dependent on exporting a limited-resource product, e.g. bananas.
It typically has stratified social classes, including a large, impoverished working class and a ruling plutocracy of business, political, and military elites; this politico-economic oligarchy controls the primary-sector productions to exploit the country’s economy.

Arbitrary interpretation and enforcement (and non-enforcement) of law; an irresponsible, profligate, feckless leadership, from top to cadre (”We’re not paid enough.” “My staff can’t afford to eat lunch in decent restaurants.” “The invasion of America is an act of love.”) offering nothing but unwanted `services’ in exchange for higher and higher taxes; oppression of citizenry expressing views contrary to establishment positions; a failing middle class due to job outsourcing, unions run amok, and illegal aliens (see above: `non-enforcement’); a treasury, not just broke but so deeply in debt that (we recently learn) creditors are demanding physical assets ...
Yeah, George is right: we’re as close to being a banana republic as we ever have been in our history. How are regime changes effected in banana republics? They are resolved `Chicago-style’. The Framers must be spinning in their graves.

So how do we do that? The internet would be useful. How is the message put out? BLM has to be planning for crowd control and closing access off the next time. It can still be overwhelmed with a massive response.

This is good news, in a roundabout way.

George Will, like Krauthammer and most other RINO neo-con communists, is not, never has been, and never will be, any kind of leader, or any kind of conservative. They are fake conservatives; former Trotskyite Democrats.

These creatures try to see which way the parade is going, then jump in front, and pretend to know what's up. They don't.

So what this means, the good news, is that the rightward stampede of the of the population is now so undeniable that the commie RINO pukes are terrified of getting trampled.

Without even searching, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that George Will has been anything but charitable toward the TEA Party, Sarah Palin, and any conservative candidates, in his writings over the past five years.

Don’t worry. When the next round gets on the Internet it’ll go viral.

I quit listening to Will about 20 years ago. He’s Krauthammer without the brains.

It is unnecessary to round up all illegal immigrants if four policies are put in place.

First, close the border and prevent all further illegal immigration as well as visa overstays;

Second, verify that all employees are legal through e-verify;

Third, change the anchor baby policy so that babies born in this country to non U.S. citizens do not automatically become citizens;

Four, those who cannot find employment will likely self deport. Any illegal immigrants found by law enforcement should be deported immediately. Those who are able to slip through the cracks and find work can remain as a non citizen for their natural lives. After they decease and with no further illegal immigrants crossing the border, the so called 11 million (a bogus and convenient estimate) will be reduced to a minuscule number.

This approach may take ten to twenty years or more to reach the goal of reducing the number of illegal immigrants in this country but we have already been dealing with this for over 25 years.

We need a bigger turnout for the next BLM-Bundy matchup.

Make it the new Burning Man events...

Bring in the jugglers and clowns, live music, and lots of pissed off people who want their country back from the D.C. ruling class and UN Communist.

No. The next time will be at 3:00AM when everyone is home asleep. April 19th is just a few days away and we should look for some "provocation" that needs a response. Possibly even Easter Sunday while the family is at church. I would not be suprised if they returned home to find all of their cattle slaughtered and their house on fire.

Stop holding grudges! If somebody says something right, even if you don’t agree with him the rest of the time, why not listen to what he’s saying and encourage him?

Do you think negativity is going to encourage anybody to be on your side?

Who cares why they’re doing it? Or maybe they’re just waking up. But shooting them down whenever they say something good isn’t going to help (except for the many trolls here who I suspect have a vested interest in keeping conservatives divided, at each others’ throats...and therefore weak).

So what’s wrong if he says something good once in a while? Addresses the issue, don’t obsess on the person.
