IRS agents testified before Congress that the agency’s political targeting did not apply to progressive groups as Democrats and the media have claimed, according to a bombshell new staff report prepared by the House Oversight Committee chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa.
IRS agents testified before Oversight that ACORN groups were scrutinized because the agency thought they were old organizations applying as new ones. Emerge America was scrutinized for potential “improper private benefit.” No evidence exists that the IRS requested additional information from any Occupy Wall Street group.
“Only seven applications in the IRS backlog contained the word ‘progressive,’ all of which were then approved by the IRS, while Tea Party groups received unprecedented review and experienced years-long delays. While some liberal-oriented groups were singled out for scrutiny, evidence shows it was due to non-political reasons,” according to the Oversight staff report, which was obtained by The Daily Caller.
“[T]he Administration and congressional Democrats have seized upon the notion that the IRS’s targeting was not just limited to conservative applicants,” the report states. “These Democratic claims are flat-out wrong and have no basis in any thorough examination of the facts. Yet, the Administration’s chief defenders continue to make these assertions in a concerted effort to deflect and distract from the truth about the IRS’s targeting of tax-exempt applicants.”
“[T]here is simply no evidence that any liberal or progressive group received enhanced scrutiny because its application reflected the organization’s political views,” the report stated.

Of course, everyone knew that the lie Obama told about “progressive” (Communist) groups being targeted was pure ObamaBull. It’s easy to spot. Just see if his lips are moving.

You’d think they would have targeted a couple of small progressive non profits just to make it look kosher to the casual observer. So arrogant are these progs.

They really didn’t have to target any progressive groups. All they have to do is lie and they know nothing will happen because Holder and Obama will see to it there are no consequences for their actions.

It was already established that liberal groups were not targetted, so I don’t understand the purpose of this hearing. I’ve been one of Issa’s few defenders here. The time has come to move forward with actions.
I understand that Issa has difficulty getting justice on this matter because the US Department of Justice will not cooperate.
However, this matter is extraordinary. And extraordinary measures need to be taken. The House has its own prison. The House has its own Sgt at Arms. And the House is fully within its rights to enforce justice by these means. It is Boehner’s duty to do so.

Holder has been found in Contempt of Congress and is obstructing the subsequent Civil court process. He has been found guilty and needs to be arrested and placed in the House prison. Without enforcement of the guilty verdict, the checks and balances in the Constitution are weakened,
Trey Gowdy promised Lerner would soon have a House hearing on Contempt of Congress charges. This needs to move forward immediately. Justice delayed is justice denied.
We’ve been told that email records will take years to collect. Of course they won’t. More obfuscation. Subpoena the records and require two weeks. This needs to move forward immediately before information is destroyed.
