One certainly has to wonder just how long it will take the American public to realize that it is past time to replace the income tax with the FairTax and abolish the IRS?

We are being monitored (NSA), we are being obstructed (IRS), we are the subjects of a government approved disinformation campaign (Benghazi), we are being manipulated (Fast & Furious), we are being held liable for our beliefs (Hobby Lobby), and we are being punished for having the wrong opinions (IRS....Mozilla).

Can someone explain to me how this is not a tyranny?

Repeal the 16th Amendment. Close down the IRS. Establish a national sales tax to replace ALL OTHER sources of revenue to the federal government.

The savings on the various levels of bureaucracy alone would be tremendous, not to mention the freedoms restored to the citizenry.

- Two left-wing groups were properly denied status.
- One left-wing group with a right-wing name “received inquiries”, which does not necessarily mean that they “received additional scrutiny”, as one article mildly editorializes [9].
- One left-wing group claimed that they were (mis-)treated in the “same” way as many Tea Party groups. Original IRS documents showed that that was not the case, and the group was forced to backtrack from their initial claims.

We should call ourselves the Progressive Tea Party Movement and really confuse them.

Woudln't work. There was a thread here a couple of months ago about some teacher's 503 (or whatever) groups that were getting the third degree and they couldn't figure out why. Many on the thread independently suggested that it was simply a matter of the big IRS computer seeing "tea" in their name.

I have a problem with the Fair Tax and that is the rebating of taxes(or prebating). Everyone, including “the poor” should pay the same rate. This should lower the percentage required. It would also eliminate record keeping.

Also, I’d prefer that the law contain a maximum 10% sales tax rate(on everything). The term “revenue neutral” keeps popping up in these discussions. That is code for raising tax rates.

My preference would be that the government gets their 10% and is then forced to budget accordingly. If the revenue isn’t there, tough choices need to be made.

A growing economy will be the only way the government can see increased revenue to the treasury. To go along with this, we need a Balanced Budget Amendment.

Sorry but that is not correct! The fact is that current law requires that any proposed replacement tax be revenue neutral!

I strongly suggest we just slay one dragon at a time!

You know Jim, the IRS only has good intentions in protecting the public from abusive tax shelters and with limited resources available, they selected with the best of intentions only those groups that would pose a threat to the public good.

Of course the public good means any group that is for the public good is good and any group against the public (collective) good or for the individual over the public is bad or possibly evil.
