2000 years ago, Jesus absorbed all the judgement, condemnation , and wrath of God in his body on the cross for all the sin of the whole world. "Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:2).

God would be unrighteous to judge America for sins already judged on the body of his son. Jesus said, "It is finished." Contrary to the traditions of man in popular Christian culture, God isn't mad at anyone. He wants to being America back to himself, and may yet do so. God himself brought America into existence for a specific purpose and will not let her go until that purpose is fulfilled. I'm not sure America has fulfilled her purpose yet.

America has a role to play against the likes of tyrants and bullies like Putin.

Around the world today, America is a far bigger bully than Russia, and we have no assurance of our national role in the future. I am far more concerned about God's righteous judgment of our collective rebellion against God than I am about Russia or its border disputes. Jesus' death and resurrection paid for the eternal consequence of our sin to those who believe, but it did not remove sin's temporal consequences. That we have rejected God is cause for alarm.

As in Libya? Kosovo? Waco?

DING DING DING!! We have the winner!

God punished Israel with bad kings why would He treat us any different? How else could an incompetent unknown community agitator become president?

I don’t know if God’s on Russia’s side, but I wouldn’t doubt He’s about to abandon ours (if He hasn’t already). Godlessness, atheism, abortion, homosexual marriage, slothfulness, Marxism, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc being forced on a nation top down by its government against the will of the people would be enough for anyone to abandon it.

God's words are His teachings and His teachings are the Truth.

What's going on is an outright assault on and vilification of truth. Beast.gov has become so all-powerful that it has placed itself above God, inventing its own lying definitions of marriage, family, justice, tolerance and so forth, and it now demands compliance and validation because it can.

Woe to those who refuse to believe and accept the lies. They are the ones whom the government targets regardless of religious affiliation. The left is at war with the truth, which by extention is war with God Himself.

In these days it is not difficult to envision an America thoroughly "at one" with the dark side, such that only those who embrace the lies will be able to work, engage in commerce, put food on the table, and be left alone to live ostensibly at peace with the beast. Everyone else has a target painted on his back, subject to all manner of demonization and abuse. Oh wait, we are already there.

Taking on the character and beliefs (i.e. mark) of the beast system just to get along and avoid becoming a target of destruction is a fairly seductive option in these last days.

Here is the patience and the faith of the saints (saints = those who love the truth and steadfastly remain separate from the lies, filth, and corruption).

Do you think that the Russians have shut down their notorious "gulags"? I don't think so. When they do, let me know.

And, OF COURSE, their media Pravda ("truth") will certainly let us know when that happens and we will ALL believe what Pravda puts out.

Are you overlooking our FEMA camps?

“And, OF COURSE, their media Pravda (”truth”) will certainly let us know when that happens and we will ALL believe what Pravda puts out.

And of course our media is much more honest? Right?

America is the strongest free country on earth. America has a long tradition of Christian charity and has scarified much in the defense of freedom here and around the world. Until recently, America has continued to do so. And America has traditionally been the ONLY ally of Israel, a country close to God's heart. The view that Obama has changed all of that is myopic. Obama and even Bush's ill-advised "Bush Doctrine" is an aberration. America has strayed from its roots but God is not mad at her or "judging" her. Again that's already been taken care of. He is trying to draw her back to himself. Since I think America is the only thing on earth standing between the world and apocalyptic oblivion, I think there will be a turn around becasue I don't think the Great Tribulation will happen quite yet.

I don't buy the Leftist/Ron Paul/Pat Buchanan blame America approach in general or regarding Putin's aggression in particular. Buchanan has already expressed a kind of sympathy for Putin's deep regret for the breakup of the USSR. But the USSR was, as Reagan sad, an evil empire, that slaughtered tens of millions of its own people and was a constant threat to the rest of the world. America's shortcoming and failures do not justify Putin's aggression against free and sovereign countries. Apparently he is about to begin military exercises in our hemisphere in cold-war fashion. China and North Korea and Iran are looking on with great interest.

Enough already with Buchanan's shortsighted isolationism and blaming America first. The American People need to do what it takes to right this ship, build a strong military defense, get back to the free market wealth, while continuing to stand to help free and sovreign countries against aggressors like Putin.

Pat Buchanan has been an isolationist since back in the Iraq War days. Strange thing is that I’m starting to think he was right and I was wrong.

This is what we are:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totalitarian_democracy

Until that changes here, all we are doing is contract jobs on weaker peoples and nations.

Liberty, like charity, begins in the home. We are no longer free.

How odd that you assume I haven’t read the Bible.

No, God doesn’t break his covenant. The Savior is not a break of the Covenant; it’s the Fulfillment: Abraham rejoiced to see His day. Our Lord could not have been more clear that all who hear the Gospel — Jews and gentile alike — are faced with the decision of acceptance or rejection. Many Jews did accept the Gospel and were baptized, becoming a new creation in Christ. Many others — like the elder brother of the prodigal son — did not, refusing to “enter the house”. John warned them of the disaster that would overtake them. So did Jesus, repeatedly. The Jews who rejected the Gospel were cut off; they were driven from the master’s vineyard and receive no portion of the inheritance. God loves the Hebrew people and has not forgotten them, but the role they play in the plan of salvation is more hidden and mysterious than you suspect. At the end, Esau must accept the gifts offered by Jacob. That is his only hope for reconciliation.

How many times did Israel get "spanked" for *failing* to adhere to God's side?

The answer is "up stream"; God's side and only God's side is where individuals and nations need to settle "in".

Politically, we are the freest nation on earth. We still are a Constitutional republic and as Reagan said, "A shining light on a hill" that many flock to from all over the world. Some of our most ardent patriots are our most recent immigrants. They know what freedom means. Many who were born here take what we have for granted.

Many have bought into the Socialist lie of "perfectionism." Socialists point to what's wrong and say, "See its all wrong." But of course that' a lie. America isn't perfect and has its flaws. But it is the best thing going on the planet. Freedom and the free market isn't perfect, but it does way more good than harm and is far ahead of whatever's in second place.

You're stuck negativity that keeps you in a straightjacket of inaction. Buchanan is shortsighted. There's no vision there. Be part of the solution, no part of the problem. There are forces for good at work in the country to turn it around. Join them. As I said, God still has a role for America in the world becasue I don't believe the end is quite yet. But when America does go, the world plunge into apocalyptic darkness.
