Florida is ground zero for the weird and unusual, but there are many people, places and events that Florida can point to with pride: Gov. Reubin Askew, our world-class beaches, beautiful wetlands, Disney World, Gasparilla and our universities’ title-winning athletic teams.
But George Zimmerman is not something we’re proud of.
For those people who have not listened to any form of media for the last few years, George Zimmerman is best known as the neighborhood watchman-turned-vigilante who shot and killed an unarmed 16-year old by the name of Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman played police, judge and jury, assuming Trayvon was “up to no good” as he walked home in a dark hoodie carrying nothing more than a can of tea and a bag of Skittles. A jury found Zimmerman not guilty of any crime.
The media continues to follow him and report on his antics, which continue to fall to new lows. He can’t kick a cat (which I’m certain he does) without making national news.
We are fascinated by killers. In fact, the more heinous the crime, the more press the killer receives. We even give them special monikers that include their middle names: Lee Harvey Oswald, James Earl Ray and John Wayne Gacy never used their middle names, but that is how they will be known in the history books.
This strange glorification has to stop. My wife’s last name is Zimmerman, and she constantly has to qualify herself on the phone when conducting some kind of business. “NO,”I hear her say, “I’m no relation to THAT Zimmerman.”
She’s considering changing her last name. She even created a Facebook page for other beleaguered Zimmermans, called ZAG (Zimmermans against George).
It’s time we stop using their names and start substituting their deeds when they are mentioned. Instead of saying “George Zimmerman,” let’s just say, “that guy who killed Trayvon.” Casey Anthony can be referred to as “that woman who killed her baby and blamed the babysitter she never had.”
The only positive thing to come out of the Trayvon Martin killing was a renewed interest in Florida’s “stand your ground” law. Its application has been criticized so strongly that Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Shalimar, has filed a bill to squelch public disclosure of SYG case. His concern is that media exposure of ongoing cases makes expunging the court records of an acquitted individual ineffective.
Gaetz has gotten quite a bit of blowback for his efforts, but it shows yet another reason SYG is a controversial and flawed defense.
The SYG debate has provoked scrutiny of other Florida self-defense laws. Current law prevents someone who feels he is in mortal danger from brandishing a firearm or fire a warning shot. If you wave around your weapon or fire a shot in the air, you can get a minimum of 20 years in jail.
But, shoot your attacker and you can use SYG as a legal defense. The possibility of abuse is clear, as in the case of a former police officer who shot and killed a man who was texting his day-care provider during the coming attractions at a movie theater. The killer claimed fear of imminent danger when the man who was texting threw popcorn at him.
Hopefully, that man will only be known as “the guy who shot a man for texting.”
And hopefully, we will not have to deal the “The guy who shot Trayvon” any more.

How close or far off is that from the truth? It seems to me that the best time to pull out a gun is well before the attacker has broken your nose, and is sitting on top of you and pounding your head into the pavement (Zimmerman was lucky to be able to get off a shot at that point). If you pull out a gun when the words or gestures of an approaching person indicate that you’re about to be attacked, that might be effective in preventing the attack. What are your chances of going to prison if you do?
I don’t have a permit to carry myself, but wonder what’s the recommended practice. Do you put your hand on the concealed weapon and say, “I have a gun. Stay away!” And if so, at what point do you actually take it out?

Do any thing you can to get away from it. If you can't and you honestly believe your life is in danger, pull the gun, aim, say "stop or I'll shoot", they don't stop then you shoot them. Unless of course it is happening too fast to give a verbal warning.
Do not shoot a warning shoot. NEVER shoot a gun into the air, extremely dangerous thing to do.
I am grateful never to have been anywhere near a situation that dire. I honestly believe that although I might hesitate for myself, if my wife or daughter was the intended prey, I would not hesitate to be brutal. No fooling around, you're dead.

This is reference to an editorial run in Canada Free Press. The Canadians got it right.! Too bad half of the so called conservatives talk show hosts I’ve been listening to can’t seem to be willing to connect the dots to what a heavy hand his imperious highness played in this example of socialist justice meted out to serve the policies of the state . Turning this into a show trial replete with wall to wall tv coverage.. Taking some poor guy of mixed race including black doing his job and painting a target on his back to fullfill a socialist agenda.
The truth and purpose behind the Zimmerman persecution .. The regime and the media set the premise for the trial narrative and their presentations ignoring the setting where the incident took place..An area having a “Neighborhood Watch” and the person working security just doing his job. Why was this episode politicized ?...The first was to gin up the base for purposes explained herein ..
If some of those so called conservative talk show hosts had interviewed guests who run such watches and had the courage to fight PC and defend Zimmerman they would have exposed the regime and the media for the frauds they are. The few who are still “milking this” by accepting black callers. While they are commentators and not bonafide “newspersons” nothing was stopping them from offering the facts for discussion.
Allowing callers to mis-state the facts such as as Martin was “stalked” or Martin was “stopped” and “questioned” when there was no legal right to do so.If the aftermath of this insidious revisionist assult were investigated everyone of the perpetrators in this recent rash of racial killings would state they believe this is true. . Instead these hosts fail to cite the simple facts outlined and documented here, allow the callers miss-conceptions go unchallanged, or cite examples of policy or corruption let alone ask them what has Obama done for you? Or even dismiss them as unfortunately being used and deliberately mis-informed..

The person of mixed race including black working security was attacked on private rights of way while on foot who discontinued an observation and was returing to his vehicle after being suggested by the police to do so.
Legally he could have approached Saint Trayvon but didn’t..The hooded tall figure was allowed to continue on his way.unimpeded. But didn’t. That figure turned out to be a Martin Trayvon who doubled back and attacked the “neighborhood watch” worker as he was returing to his vehicle. Knocked him to the ground and began beating him severly. Saint Trayvon, the attacker, was subsequently killed in a struggle over the Neighborhood Watchman’s legal pistol.
Both were dark skined and could “pass” as cousins.
The facts of this case are still being shamefully being concealed by the media to the extent they are advancing and are complicit in permitting a putrid injstice of the worst order,organized and instituted by our governent, to be committed .
While denied. It began as a miscalculation when a surname of a Jewish origin shot up and lighted the heavens like a star shell in the darkest of nights. It would have been difused if the media used pictures of both side by side because they look like cousins. And the area where this occured of paycheck to paycheck struggling homeowners of all races trying to protect themselves had been reported and not some ritzy all white enclave.they portrayed..

The result as we have seen is that another marxist axiom (division) has been implemented which has resulted with gangs of black youths murdering happless whites and “hispanics” who happen into areas usually where a black population is the majority. Those media outlets who by their delberate misuse of the instrument of the 1st amendment are just as complicit in those deaths as the regime is.
Particularly the black media which had the duty but not the obligation to verify and report factually. But instead quoted the reports from various “mainlining” socialist media sources: Some examples here all of which serve the first purpose of selecting Zimmerman as the target. What is the result ?
Black youths believing they would get top level peer approval began attacking happless white and hispanics which may have wandered into their area which resulted in murders or serious injury and some cases stalked their white victims.
In reality these victims are martyrs to the cause of American socialism.,and the political opposition says nothing..

What better way to cover up Bengahzi, Fast and furious, IRS, Wind and Solar panel gate, NSA spying on US, Over-riding the constittution? Don’t look into who accompaines Obama on his many trips around the world at taxpayer expence ? Were they the heavy hitters or their friends holding the president’s hand isn’t that pay back at US taxpayer expence?. Isn’t that an impeachable offense ??

My policy is to not show until you feel you are in danger and then be ready to make a quick decision. If leaving is not an option, posture means everything.

I have legally carried my tools, concealed and openly, in many states and a few foreign countries.
Frankly I have defensively brandished my car more times than I have displayed my weapon(s).
My personal self-defense arsenal consists of a number of disparate things, including various lethal physical attack movements, edged weapons, and some fairly arcane knowledge of defensive poisons.
I have never been accused of physically attacking anyone.
If attacked, I would not waste any advantage in protecting myself.
So no, there is no such thing as “warning shots” or “scare tactics” I would be willing to employ if I was forced into a physical self defense situation.
Why anyone would think I needed to suffer any degree of physical harm before I actively defended myself from physical attack is something I just don't understand.
The Martin-Zimmerman incident is also useful in revealing the names of total a-holes like Mr. Stein. It’s like he ignored every fact that emerged during the trial. Idiots like Stein desperately want to believe the myth of white killers stalking innocent black youths. The truth is the other way around. Libs can’t stand the truth.
This is the most fascinating part of the whole fiasco. By the standards approved by most of this country's black population, Zimmerman would be considered black. If Martin had been a white youth, what do you think the reaction of the black community would have been? Then Martin would have been a criminally-inclined, young punk who attacked a black man and got what he deserved.
