Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is hard at work laying the groundwork for an almost certain presidential campaign in 2016, but as he broadens his support among libertarian and younger voters, theres a budding countercampaign to take him down if he becomes a threat to actually win the nomination. At the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) meeting in Las Vegas this weekend, Paul was nowhere to be found, but his presence was felt in the form of a straw man and frequent worry. Speaker after speaker, from former Florida governor Jeb Bush to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, laid into Pauls more isolationist views on foreign policy. They never mentioned the lawmaker by name, but the message came across loud and clear.

Is it a hit piece because it quotes Rand? I don’t think he’d say that.
Well at least Rand Paul vigorously opposes dumping the Tomahawk missiles. A good move.
So why are Jewish leaders so anxious for the USA to get into war? If they think God is with them, they don’t need us. If God is not with them, we can’t help. AD 70 happened.
I have never trusted this guy. Palin Yes, Cruz so far so good but not Pauls boy. NO way!
Jeb Bush at the RJC???
I thought Republicans didn’t like ‘separatist’ groups, and only the Democrats were allowed to have separate-other-than-just-one-word-American-caucuses?
Any “possible contender” that shows there, ain’t got my interest at heart.
I worry Jeb has too much George W. and tax raising Daddy. I will never vote for another Bush.
While I loathe the neocons (they have ruined a Nation), Paul is irrelevant.
Of course, the Cons are now pushing another puppet in Bush.
Rand Paul is the real deal. If he were to run on a position of eliminating foreign aid, he’d win in a landslide.
How about, no more wars where American blood, limbs and lives are squandered for no vital American interests. While maintaining the best trained, best equipped, and best paid military in our history.
Rand Paul is a hawk. He’s just not a rabid hawk. He’s an intelligent hawk. He’s a thrifty hawk. He supports a strong national defense, about this there is no doubt.
Rand Paul: “I believe that defending this country is the primary and most important Constitutional function of our federal government”
Rand Paul: “I believe that the primary Constitutional function of the federal government is national defense, bar none. I believe that when we must go to war, we must have a Congressional declaration of war as the Constitution mandates, and we fight to win. And we must fight only under U.S. command and not the UN.”
And if the ‘Cons can’t get Jeb Bush they’ll settle for Marco Rubio or Paul Ryan.
Ted Cruz or Sarah Palin are the only ones I really want to vote for
amnesty will bankrupt us and his attacks on social issues make him a bad candidate
It appears that they will be going after Rand Paul with the same venom that they employed on Pat Buchanan when he was deemed insufficiently dedicated to world empire.
Other then John McCain I can’t think of any of the neocon gang who have put their own hides on the line. A lot them have always had soft professions. Few of these ‘hawks’ seem to have any connection to the military so casualties aren’t going to affect their own homes.
Maybe we should bring back the draft, that has a way of focusing the public mind on the cost of foreign adventurism.
Ted Cruz looks promising so far. I think Palin hurt her chances when she wouldn’t make a serious run last time.

Compared to our current leader, that sounds like a real improvement.
I’m not particularly bothered (if at all) by Rand’s foreign policy as I am about him being too wobbly/libertarian on issues of amnesty, dope and fag-marriage.
Those last three issues are killers for me.
Sorry, pal. Hes a light in the loafers amnesty pusher and RINO loving surrender monkey.

Thank you.
Rand isn’t nearly as far out as his dad; but he goes too far in that direction for my tastes. Both are pretty good on domestic policy, but anything outside our borders....
