Earth to high school students and their parents: they attend a CATHOLIC high school. The Church has specific teachings about sexuality. If you can't cope with that, there's probably a public high school down the road.

What a useless article. How many of the 1800 actually go to that school? No way of knowing since we know nothing about the “online” petition.

“In the meantime, a second petition has also been created in support of Sister Jane Dominic’s message. That petition has approximately 200 signatures. “

Where can we sign that?

I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you that a Catholic Nun gave a lecture in a Catholic school and spoke truth to the church's teachings, how dare she! And these poor fragile students and their parents couldn't cope with the way she presented it to them. Maybe if she had used Care Bears, sparkly rainbows and unicorns, you know the FANTASY they are used to it would have been less upsetting.

I’d like to read the whole text of what she said that is getting their knickers in a knot.

Why should the school be teaching “love and acceptance?” Love, yes. But love strong enough to REFUSE acceptance, when that acceptance threatens your life.

discussed offensive material about divorce and homosexuality

No, divorce and homosexuality are the offensive material. She merely pointed out that fact.

In an online petition, which now has close to 1,800 signatures, one student wrote "we found some of (the) ideas expressed to be both offensive and unnecessarily derogatory. We are incensed that you knew the content of this speech and allowed these ideas to be expressed in a school that should be preaching a message of love and acceptance."

I'm a strong believer in love and acceptance.

Which is more loving: to encourage behaviors that carry an extremely high risk of suicide and fatal diseases, or to encourage abstinence among those who are tempted to engage in high-risk behaviors? Which is more loving: to encourage fellow Christians, and in particular Catholic school students, to follow God's Word, or to encourage them to willfully ignore scripture?

Which is more accepting: To insist that a gay person's hormones should be in charge of that person's life or to accept that we all have the strength of will to put guidance from the source of Wisdom in charge of our lives?

Earth to libtards...Homosexual is a lifestyle choice!

Want to prove that wrong? Produce the ‘Gay’ gene.

However...if you did identify a ‘gay’ gene,(which you won’t) be prepared for abortion to banned immediately after you do that!

Diocese leaders admit that parents were never notified that the assembly was being held.

However, diocese leaders told WBTV parents will have their voices heard.

“We hear the parents’ concerns. We hear the students’ concerns. There is going to be a meeting at the school next Wednesday to basically kind of air this whole thing out,” Hains said.

In the meantime, a second petition has also been created in support of Sister Jane Dominic’s message. That petition has approximately 200 signatures.

JPII once said, and I do not know if this was ever in any of his speeches or writings, but he said that the best thing a father can do for his children is for him to love their mother. All sorts of problems creep in when the husband and wife bond is not secure. Kids learn best from their parents who stand together as two strong legs.

I was once waiting for an appointment and I overheard a gay guy talk about the relationship he had with his father. He said his dad had been married "somewhere around" six times. And that he would just bring home "any woman he wanted." His dad was also a drug addict and an alcoholic. I felt really sorry for this gay guy.

The Nun apparently did not get the memo that good is now evil and lie is now truth. What an idiot...she went to a catholic school to espouse its values and look what happened...Fool! <Sarcasm off

Why don’t these schools just expell the students. There are public schools nearby.

Question.
Was she saying “Marriage is between a man and a woman, for life. No sex outside of marriage”, or the opposite?

I suspect the former. IF stating the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching on such matters at a CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL gets everyone upset, then may I suggest the parents and students look at the ELCA.

Another Catholic school that has clearly been a total failure. Needs to be shut down and leveled.

My thinking exactly. Nobody is forced to be a Catholic or a Baptist or a Mormon or any religion except Islam. If they don’t agree with the teachings they should go start their own. Lots of people have done it. There’s room for one more.
