The Individual Mandate Goes Poof
Wall Street Journal ^ | 03/27/2014 | Abby McCloskey and Tom Miller

One by one, the myths of the Affordable Care Act have been revealed. When the curtain on open enrollment falls on March 31, the last remaining big myth of ObamaCare will be fully exposed: The individual mandate has failed.

After a last-ditch effort with President Obama himself encouraging "young invincibles" to sign up before the deadline, the administration is scrambling to boost enrollment. On Tuesday, the White House announced that people who applied for coverage on the federal health-insurance exchange will have until mid-April to finish the paperwork.

The mandate was supposed to be the administration's magical elixir for the assorted shortcomings of the Affordable Care Act. Disappointing early enrollment numbers? More people will sign up eventually to avoid mandate penalties. Potential premium spikes for government-approved coverage that must ignore cost differences in the age- and health-related risks of enrollees? Forcing young and healthy individuals to buy coverage will spread out the costs.

The only way this is going to work for the Dems is if they step to the mike...and disown Obama.

It was never going to work because the demographic so coveted and needed, “the young invincibles,” don’t have the money to make it work. The money is simply not in that demographic.

Ann Coulter wrote a great article yesterday about her attempts to buy insurance under Obamacare. She said if a hospital takes it, the doctors at the hospital wont and if doctors accept it, the hospital won’t so basically it’s completely useless. Yet she supported RINOmney who pushed RINOmneycare in Assachussets.

Oh, they’ve already got “an angle”...

Say they want to fix it, and blame the private insurance companies for the cost increases.

The supreme court declared the mandate as a tax, and as such is codified in the IRS tax laws. I can just imagine what the fines, penalties, forfeitures of property, and prison sentences that go with crossing the IRS will be for refusing to enroll in obamacare. Believe me, it's coming.

His work isn’t done. He has 3 more years and now he is working on destroying the internet, electronic financial transactions and US foreign policy - starting up the cold war again and helping Iran with their nuclear program. I assume next he will move on to North Korea and help them with their nukes as well. And he will probably do all that in one year alone while the RINOs continue to cower under their desks. “Oooo, impeachment?? B-but we’ll be called racist!! The country will be completely destroyed, WW3 nuke style will be going on, but at least we won’t be called racist!”

“The money is simply not in that demographic.”

And until recently, it was in their parents’ pockets. But not any more. Lots of little things to gig the middle-age middle class in 0bamacare. For example, they put in a provision that you can’t claim your kid as a dependent as a college student if they make over $3200. Most kids with a decent summer job and/or who work part time in school do that. What goes with that? Parents can’t then take the educational credit for the cost of college education. That blew away a nice big tax credit we were counting on last year.

“If you earn less than $250,000, your taxes will not go up.”

It’s one lie after another from 0bama. The only thing he ever said that was true was “Under my plan, electric utility rates will necessarily skyrocket.”

You don't have to imagine, its in clear writing.

‘(2) SPECIAL RULES- Notwithstanding any other provision of law—
‘(A) WAIVER OF CRIMINAL PENALTIES- In the case of any failure by a taxpayer to timely pay any penalty imposed by this section, such taxpayer shall not be subject to any criminal prosecution or penalty with respect to such failure.
‘(B) LIMITATIONS ON LIENS AND LEVIES- The Secretary shall not—
‘(i) file notice of lien with respect to any property of a taxpayer by reason of any failure to pay the penalty imposed by this section, or
‘(ii) levy on any such property with respect to such failure.’.

What the Obama-care law text REALLY says on IRS enforcement of the personal Mandate fine/tax (GPO via govtrack.,us congress bills site ^ | 10/16/2013 |)

They are going to step to the mike and blame all the problems on Big Grrrrrrreeeedy Insurance Companies. Elect us and we’ll protect you from them.

Which will cause the Insurance Companies (up till now hanging with Obama because they really were Grrrrrrreeeeedy to the point of wanting 30+ million new customers at gunpont) to turn a sharp 180 and haul out the Harry and Louise ads again.

Buckle up, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

Owebamacare = about 4 million really really sick older Americans getting subsidized health insurance, and about 15 million more welfare leeches added to the Medicaid rolls.

The cost of same is transferred to middle class taxpayers and unfunded debt.

Those 15 million added to the Medicaid rolls were also given a pocket full of food stamps, an owebamaphone, and 101 reasons to never work again.

The money isn’t in this demographic either.
What this amounts to is a $600 per month “tax”, premium to be paid by me - perhaps the Supremes had it right by calling it a tax after all. This is not coverage for run of the mill things - $6000 deductible? Right.

Ran two scenarios. 1.no afib - $94 per month 2. w/ afib - $608 per month. All has been very nicely controlled with medication, thank you. I am not a frequent flyer to the doctor’s.

So - where is the affordability in ACA aka obarkycare?
Damn those politicians for putting this monkey on our backs.
I have not and will not comply. Kiss my entire butt.
