US officials knew about the potential danger of Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, according to a soon-to-be-released Congressional reportbut a spelling error led them to miss his frequent flights out to Dagestan for terror training. [ ]
In March 2011, Russian intelligence agency FSB notified the FBI with concerns about Tamerlan Tsarnaev and the Tsarnaev family, which had emigrated to Massachusetts nearly ten years earlier. In the letter, FSB included contact information, with addresses and phone numbers, for many of the members of the Tsarnaev family, including Tamerlan and his mother, and warned that Tamerlan was gaining a reputation for associating with violent Islamists.

Our idiot gubmint didn’t seemt to have a problem with spelling their names for all the free gubmint cheese the family was getting.
Problem is, were we ever told who this guy is? The guy placed into cuffs and into a squad car?
How did the older brother die if he was taken into custody? Hmmmmm????
To me the worst incompetence was when the FBI had photos of the brothers. Even then, the FBI didn't recognize who they were, even after having been tipped off by the Russians, that the brothers were a potential terrorist threat..
The FBI asked the general public for help in identifying them from the photos.
What incompetence!- Tom"
Well, you see, they didn’t need to be alert for terrorists, because our Dear Leader had “Al Qaeda on the run.” Just ask Candy Crowley.
Anyways, we were told more than once about these boys. Obama told Russia to mind their own business.
Same cr** as with the Panty Bomber...Geez...the freaks father went to the Embassy more than once about this bad son. We just blew him off.
What does the NSA do except listen to the phone calls of its' good citizens?
Yeah, and I bet one of those officials was a "Professor Raoul X" sent to recruit him for this false-flag event.
And this is news...why exactly? I thought everyone knew this just after the little jihadist was captured?
No? Well then I’m sure it will be swept under the rug...again
Rather than call the problem by name "MUSLIMS,' they use Al Qaeda. They treat al Qaeda like it was a sort of gang, that if you can defeat al Qaeda the terrorism problem goes away.
That is not going to happen.
Any Muslim worth his salt is going to subjugate convert or kill anyone who does not believe there is only one God, and Muhammed is his prophet. They don't need al Qaeda to tell them that. -Tom
You mean like when Bush was pres and russia invaded Georgia ?
Good question. Listening to that guy's phone calls to and from Russia would have been a good start.
Something about “friend with your enemy’s enemy” comes to mind.
The old misspelling trick - I remember that the fraudster electronics retailer Crazy Eddie foiled efforts to track his movements in and out of the country for years because when a form asked for a last name, he put in a first name, and vice versa.
And I don’t know how we can rely on spelling when a lot of people don’t even use our alphabet (Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, etc...).
But I am not surprised.
That’s just BS.....As part of my job, I have to complete Patriot Act screenings. 90% of my time on this is clearing “false positives” because I get back everything even remotely close to the name I’m screening.
Spelling? I thought the NSA was collecting numbers.
“You mean like when Bush was pres and russia invaded Georgia ? “
Actually, there is a difference. Bush decided sanctions were ineffective and counter-productive given our close intelligence cooperation with Russia, which has saved lives for both countries. Instead, Bush worked with France and brokered a deal whereby Russia withdrew and the disputed areas became, and are independent.
Russia has actually annexed the Crimea.
