the Obama administration “the greatest enemy of press freedom that we have encountered in at least a generation”

Statement corrected.

The alligator finally turned on you, too, NYT.

You bought it, learn to love it.

1976 - The Carter Administration will be the most Competent Administration in history

1992 - The Clinton Administration will be the most Ethical Administration in history

2008 - The Obama Administration will be the most Transparent Administration in history

Anyone notice a pattern emerging here?

In a speech kicking off the conference, Risen claimed that the Obama administration wants to “narrow the field of national security reporting” and “create a path for accepted reporting.” Those who stray from that path, he cautioned, “will be punished.”

If the worm doesn't turn soon McGruff there won't be a free press... or a free country. Thank God someone at the New York Times is catching on... there's a few at the Washington Post... some other scattered around the country. Not enough, but a start.

Elite liberals have to get past the color of Obama's skin and see who he really is...Obama's Nixon on speed - he's not Kunta Kinte...he might even be Stalin...

And there is the Mooch over there in China telling them that questioning leaders is a must or something like that. What a gigantic hypocrite.

What are the odds that James Risen voted for the POS?

I’d say 100%

The folks at Poynter don’t have forever to figure this one out... Thank God for men like Risen...

http://www.poynter.org/latest-news/mediawire/244525/risen-obama-administration-is-this-generations-greatest-enemy-of-press-freedom/

From the above link:

The administration’s aggressive prosecutions have created “a de facto Official Secrets Act,” Risen said, and the media has been “too timid” in responding.

Toobin appeared on a panel that followed, moderated by Times Supreme Court reporter Adam Liptak, who announced that if he weren’t a paragon of journalistic detachment, he’d say “the persecution of James Risen is a scandal.” The attorney Laura Handman noted that the U.S. Department of Justice’s new guidelines for accessing journalists’ records carve out a big space for the government to decide what constitutes “ordinary newsgathering

Thanks McGruff. Risen was (or is?) fighting to keep a source confidential regarding US espionage activity against an Iranian nuclear plant — so guess what?

But it is not a problem when they do it. Ask Mrs. Obama. It is the Chinese who have to fix their press freedom, America wouldn’t care less.

If only various people pointed out these potential issues, and the NYT reported on it before 08, maybe we wouldn’t be stuck in this mess. Nah, it was the eeeevil racist Tea Party types who pointed it out, so it had no merit.
