Hilarious: Mother Jones says MH 370 debris not found because of... (You Guess)

In the minds of progs, global warming is the devil incarnate, responsible for everything bad. So naturally, with the world focused on the mystery of Malaysia 370, it is time to blame global warming. Mother Jones Magazine took a break from blaming free markets (maybe because Malaysia Airlines is government-owned) to blame global warming for the inability to find the debris.

Scientists say man-made climate change has fundamentally altered the currents of the vast, deep oceans where investigators are currently scouring for the missing Malaysian Airlines flight, setting a complex stage for the ongoing search for MH370. If the Boeing 777 did plunge into the ocean somewhere in the vicinity of where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean, the location where its debris finally ends up, if found at all, may be vastly different from where investigators could have anticipated 30 years ago.

Progressives and warmists (the groups overlap) have entered the stage of self-parody.

A good start, but I’m sorry, I won’t be satisfied until someone says its *disappearance* was caused by global warming.

In a similar vein to GlowBull warming “causing higher Atlantic Salinity” and “causing lower Atlantic Salinity”.... and “Coral Reefs Grow”/”Coral Reefs Shrink”....

we can be 100% certain that:

“GW caused MH370 to disappear”, “GW caused us not not find MH370 debris” AND.... SOON... “GW caused us to find MH370” as well as “GW responsible for MH370 being under the Indian Ocean” OR “GW responsible for MH370 being in a Pakistani hangar, loaded to the gilt with nuke bombs”

There are roughly 205,000 copies of Mother Jones produced today (by their numbers), and it runs $15 a year. So you can figure they marginally get by with two million a year. This tends to mean that the staff is made up of volunteers and college students....who allow stupid comments and statements to wander in and become ‘fact’ (when they aren’t).

This example of global warming....has no substance, and most members of Mother Jones would admit that...yet they’d hate to come in public and admit they said something fairly stupid. The same logic could be used that elevators will eventually break down and stall because of global warming, or that the moon’s orbit will decay because of climate change.

I guessed wrong. My first guess was “Bush”. My second guess was “racism”.

Junk science. Activities of mankind at the ocean surface have NO EFFECT on deep ocean currents. The passage of even a fleet of very large ships in no way affects water movement more than a few hundred meters away in the wake of their passage. The effects at depths completely dissipates more than a few meters down.

Ditto for any effect of “global warming”. Currents are formed because of the combined vectors of water temperature and degree of salinity. At great depths, the water temperature is the same, 38 degrees Fahrenheit or 4 gradients Celsius. Only differences in salinity (and therefore density), have much effect on deep ocean currents, and that is very slow, in comparison.

One exception would be a deep ocean volcanic vent, when very hot water (as much as 700 gradients Celsius) jets up into the surrounding much colder water, but this energetic upsurge is quickly cooled, after forming a highly localized swirl of water, but not enough to generate an autonomous current with a direction and force.

There's a theory out there that giant bubbles of methane escaping from the sea floor are what caused many ships and planes to go missing in the Bermuda Triangle.

If MH 370 encountered one of these huge bubbles of gas and if the gas was released because that ocean has been warmed slightly by human activity then ...

So it turns out it WAS Bush's fault all along.

Watch it now - keep this up and we’re going to have to make you an honorary member of the IPCC. And then you’ll be forced to go to conferences at government expense in exotic locations like Kyoto and Rio de Janeiro to propagate your clever theories.

If MH370 encountered one of these huge bubbles of gas nothing would happen. A boat being surrounded by gas no longer floats. An aircraft already uses air to create lift so another gas wouldn't change anything. Not to mention that a methane bubble would dissipate long before it reached 10+thousand feet.

On top of which, the legend of the Bermuda Triangle is more sensationalism than fact anyway. You're no more likely to disappear mysteriously there than anyone else in the world.
