Texas Town Pays Ted Nugent $16K to Stay Away From 4th of July Concert

The town of Longview, Texas has reportedly paid conservative rocker Ted Nugent $16,000 to make sure he does not play at their annual 4th of July concert this summer. That figure represents half of the amount Nugent would have been guaranteed if the performance happened as scheduled.

-snip-

“I’m sad the City of Longview has done this. I think it was done by a great deal of political correctness, political pressure,” Gregg County Republican Party Chair Keith Rothra told KLTV. “We have various performers who have made all kinds of statements that rattled people’s conscience and yet they are still slated as performers.”

-snip-

[M]eanwhile, Ted Nugent just made $16,000 for doing absolutely nothing.

You forgot to finish the sentence with: “who got all sorts of equal opportunity money to attend big name schools he was not entitled to attend but made their EEOC money worth spending... to get more EO money from the leftist voting business’s.... and so on till he is president.”

We had a town close to ours who made stupid decisions just like that but about fireworks.... wait for it... on the 4th of July being to noisy. Just stupid. Instead of putting up with the bang/bang for a few hours they lost all that revenue. J

Again... just stupid.

Ted Nugent is using the language of the Alinsky Method. Someone tell Gary Abbott that the method works no matter who uses it.

Sounds like they would rather have the Dixie Chicks. I won’t be going there for anything.I wonder what Advanced Industries
that’s headquartered there thinks of it?

Actually, I quite like Texas - just not those parts of it that are anti-Ted.

Longview, XT (ex-Texas town), should try booking the Dixie Chicks if you can find’em... :)

Depends whether or not it conflicts with their shifts at Denny's.

I am not unsympathetic with Longview.

When Nugent came to my community to perform at our county fair, it was the most foulmouthed performance I have ever heard, and it could be heard far beyond the fenced off stadium where he was "performing". The F-bombs were frequent, loud and clear, in addition to a number of other profane words and scatological terms. This at a fair meant for families with a great many children present throughout the area.

It was disgusting and for me, a Conservative, incredibly embarrassing. He's a grown man and should have known better. I hope he never comes back, as if they would even invite him.

I’m not fond of foul language myself, but foul language is not why he was cancelled. Presumably, if he hadn’t made his comments about Zer0 then Longview would have accepted any number of f-bombs.

“He should show up unannounced and give a free concert two blocks away...watch that venue clear out...”

I was going to suggest that Ted Nugent use the $16,000 to promote a 4th of July concert in Tyler, Texas, only about 40 miles from Longview, Texas.

The first time I saw him in concert I was fourteen or so and he really shocked me with his mouth. That language was not used at home or in school at the time. Nowadays that’s how you give directions to someone that’s lost! Things have changed.
