Boeing Source: Missing Plane in Pakistan
Lignet ^ | March 17, 2014, 5:30 p.m. |

The Malaysian government reportedly is investigating the possibility that missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 avoided radar detection and landed in Pakistan near the Afghanistan border inside Taliban-controlled territory, according to the UK Independent . . . investigators confiscated a homemade flight simulator from the pilot’s home to see if it reveals any useful information . . . the Malaysian foreign minister told reporters that Malaysia asked several Asian countries for assistance in its investigation, including Pakistan . . . Pakistan dismissed the idea that a Boeing 777 could land undetected inside the country but promised to work with the Malaysian government in its search for the missing plane . . . a LIGNET analyst received information from a source at Boeing that the company believes the plane did land in Pakistan . . . Israel is taking the possibility of a terrorist attack seriously by mobilizing air defenses and scrutinizing approaching civilian aircraft, according to the Times of Israel . . . a Boeing 777 requires a lengthy, 7,500-foot runway, and Pakistan has many of them, meaning Flight 370 could conceivably be hidden in a hangar inside the country . . . U.S. surveillance of the area may be able to shed light on the theory through satellite imagery or signals intelligence.

Probably paying passengers wouldn’t have liked it much...

But from what everybody here says, it does seem possible. If they had built some huge long runway, it wouldn’t have been an overnight job and I’m sure somebody’s surveillance would have picked it up. And if they’d want to land in a country that was organized enough to have a big airport (in other words, probably not Somalia), that would have been out of the question and I’m sure they didn’t even consider it.

I just can’t imagine them caring that much about the US, since we’re pretty powerless and they seem to be angrier at Russia and China right now.

However, it’s true that little groups of Middle Easterners have been stopped all over the US while scoping out dams...and IIRC, after 9/11, it appeared that some of that group of terrorists had been looking at dams.

I’m wondering if there is any connection with that recent power station attack in California. I wonder if there’s something here they could plow into with this plane that would take out our electrical or communications grid.

To me, this seems like a much more technical, military and high-tech hijacking than 9/11. So maybe they’re not after a big statement, but after a major devastating effect.

Just some thoughts.

USA? Hoover Dam for the AllSpark.

A goodly chunk of the electrical power for the southwest, and coordinated with a couple minor attacks on the California Aqueduct no drinking water for the greater Los Angeles area.

But Three Gorges is closer, would affect even more people, and would strike a blow for the Uyghurs.

Besides, unlike the occupier of the White House, the Chinese PM isn’t an active supporter of the most radical islamist side in any conflict world wide.

Anything is possible, I guess. The more I think about it, the more it seems to me that this is much more professional than 9/11, so to speak. I’m not sure the US is their target, but if it is, they’re not going to want to inflict terror but to do serious damage.

IMHO, that would only be possible if the US & Indian Militaries were withholding information...

Eliminating the “inflict terror” requirement opens up all of flyover country as a target. Otherwise it would pretty much have to directly impact NYC or Hollywood...

I want to know why this particular plane, and or particular flight? Why steal THIS plane?

For cargo? For plane? For passenger(s)?

To quote: "It turns out that an empty, lightly fueled, STRIPPED 747 (sic) can manage a takeoff roll in about 500 feet on emergency engine thrust"

Not exactly the same thing, but I was flying out of Ohio one afternoon in the mid-80s on a Southwest 737. There was only myself and the crew on the flight, and the captain came on the intercom, saying that they were going to take advantage of the the essentially empty plane and do a "quick" takeoff for practice, so to speak. As soon as we had straightened up on the runway to takeoff, he must have pushed the throttle to the limit, as we were airborne in less than 15 seconds (it seemed closer to 10 seconds at the time)... I had never been pushed back into the seat as far and as hard as we were on that takeoff! The raw power from the twin engines was VERY impressive!

The captain later came back to chat and see what I thought. He said that the engines on that plane were strong enough to allow a take off with just one engine with a fully loaded plane. Don't know if it is true, but it sure felt like it was!

They might want to keep it quiet that they know where it is so they can sneak up on them.

May have to do with keeping the passengers alive too

A 4 lane reinforced stretch of highway with a 1.5 mile straightaway and an off lane that goes to a large warehouse.

Doesn’t seem likely, but I guess it’s a possibility.

3. An "extra" 777 is ideal delivery vehicle for an EMP at 35,000 feet.

Don't know that 35,000 feet is up high enough for an effective EMP blast. Most of the tests in the mid-60s were at altitudes between 30 and 60 miles up... I would think that some sort of ballistic missile would be more effective.

That is gobbledygook!

Thailand is obviously well south of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

You’ve been had.

I think because it was easy. I lean towards the idea that they simply wanted the plane in order to convert it into a missile. They may have intended to put something else on it later, but I don’t think there was initially anything on it that they wanted.

Malaysia...a place where the plane flew across the entire country, tracked on radar, and none of the 4 or 5 people supposedly monitoring it even noticed until the news broke in the morning...was obviously ideal. I also read that some of these little countries turn off their radar and other flight surveillance at night to save electricity.

So I think they picked this flight because they wanted a plane of that size and range and this was the easiest place to get one...and probably they had help from some wannabe jihadi, such as the co-pilot, or some other local terrorist who was on board as a passenger.

Don’t forget that Malaysia has been connected with other terrorist attacks, including the Bali bombing.
