Full Title: iPhone users are disappointed with the iOS 7.1 software update that's draining their batteries, erasing their contacts, and flipping their keyboards

With every new I-phone software update comes the potential for problems and the iOS 7.1 released on Monday is no exception.

Customer's say it's killing their phone batteries among other pesky glitches.

The iOS7.1 is the first major update to Apple's newest operating systems for iPhones and iPads and the apple community is lamenting poor battery charges, disappearing contacts, bad Bluetooth connections, keyboards oriented the wrong way, and the list goes on, reports the Huffington Post.

Maybe that explains why my battery is draining so fast, even though I’ve shut off some of the activities that use power.

When I first saw this update on my iPad, it seemed as if Jony had a little snit fit and decided to poke us in the eye (with BOLD) for dissing his original spare interface. “Too hard to read and navigate in Safari? Huh? How’s THIS?!?!”

Avinir, the bold was simply because a lot of us had turned BOLD on in the settings to make the fonts darker and more readable at the change from iOS 6 to iOS 7. Now that they've corrected THAT FUBAR, the bold setting needs to be turned off again. You have to do that. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Bold Text and turn it off. Voilá, done. Everything is back to normal. Jonny listened to us and corrected his Faux Pas.

Try doing a force quit cold start by holding the off switch and the home button for ten seconds to shut your device down, then start it normally. That fixes most cases of battery drain.

If that fails, go into settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will reset all variables without erasing your contents, documents, and pictures. You may have to put in some passwords, and I recommend assuring your backup is current before doing this.

If this doesn’t solve the issue, Apple says to reset EVERYTHING and Restore.

I have had zero problems on my iPad or IPhone as well. Moreoever, the key pads on both are now MUCH-easier to read and respond better. If your battery is drawing too fast, check to see how many apps you have open and close some. Double click on the home button to see what is open, and scroll them up to close each.

Do not update if you can avoid it.

I am full of regret.

It wrecked my iPhone.

Horrid GUI and battery drains fast even when it’s not on.

Miserable.

:(

Rush had a “fix” for this on his Friday show; involved turning-off the unit to reset it, and resetting back ground apps, or something. Anyone remember?

Articles like this one are part of the reason for the fall, as well as options traders and other hedge funds betting against the price - so it is in their financial interests to see the price fall or sometimes rise - depending on their bets.

We have 3 4s’s in the house and we have had zero problems after the update.

AND, I do like the apparent contrast/brightness change that seems to have happened to the home screen (or my old eyes just happened to have gotten better at the same time!).

No problems after the upgrade for me and there was a security exposure it was supposed to fix.

I’m not having issues either. I turned a lot of crap off however. That is probably the issue, push email, background processing, third party apps, and other fancy schmancy gismo’s.

As much as I despise Apple’ Cook, it is still the best product on the market for my needs, and Google’s Android is still the worse of the two evils.
