Camden, NJ —Mayor Dana Redd, Democrat
Flint MI — Mayor Dayne Walling, Democrat
Detroit MI — Mayor Dave Bing/Mike Duggan, Democrat(s)
Oakland, CA — Mayor Jean Quan, Democrat
St. Louis, MO — Mayor Francis Slay, Democrat
Cleveland, OH — Mayor Frank Jackson, Democrat
Gary, IN — Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, Democrat
Newark NJ — Mayor Corey Booker/Luis Quintana, Democrat(s)
Bridgeport, CT — Mayor Bill Finch, Democrat

It's also important to point out that 6 out of the 10 most dangerous cities are in states with strict gun control laws.

Would the cities be less dangerous if they elected Republicans?

No Chicago? This must be violent crime per capita.

And most of these cities have also suffered a lot of economic malaise as businesses move out to avoid the increasing crime problem, too.

Chicago is a city with a serious dichotomy between good and bad areas. The South Side has a lot of crime problems, while the North Side has many pleasant neighborhoods. No need to guess which side has way more African-Americans....

RE: Uhhh, YES! NEXT QUESTION!

My response would be a little less certain... we won’t know until we’ve tried.

It suits democrats’ goals to keep their constituents poor, unhappy and miserable, and to keep promising them the promised land as long as they vote democrat.

There are stats that NYC was safer under Guilani.

“Would the cities be less dangerous if they elected Republicans?”

It took Giuliani a couple of years to turn around NY. But he did it. So, yes.

He actually started by taking on the graffiti “artists” and fare jumpers. On the broken window theory, you take care of the broken windows first. Look for a massive turnaround under the new Communist regime.

Figures lie and liers figure. The cities with the most strict gin control can’t afford to be on this list so they cook their own books probably with doj / fed tacit approval. But l know the old “I’m offended by this” incredulousnessness will suffice to end this thought.

Well, is the south side where Obama’s from? That should say it all.

Given enough time, probably yes. A series of conservative, business-friendly, and low-tax GOP mayors could bring middle class businesses and factories back to a city.

And that would generate job growth. When a person has a good job, he gains a sense of self-discipline and pride.

Of course all that could be easily defeated by high federal taxes and strangling federal regulations. So I'm not optimistic in any case.

We’ve already tried and succeeded. See new york city for example. Under democrat control for decades, and going downhill until republican rudy took over as mayor.

Bloomberg was a Pub in name only, so i don’t expect much change. So was Rudy, actually.

Those city demographics apparently make that an impossibility.
