Indeed. If I verbalize threats against cops, what happens? Why should they be let off the hook for doing the same to citizens, esp since they hold power?

He wouldnt have made these comments unless that was the attitude and culture of the leadership and department in that city. Therefore EVERY member of that department leadership should be fired.

He might get “fired.” This would consist of appealing and getting his job back with back pay plus more money in six months or so when the heat dies down.

Really? Where’s your list? There aren’t many where I live. When there’s a traffic stop they are like flies around a toilet seat. Here, all you would have to do to have a successful robbery, would be to have a couple of your compatriots go 26 mph past the high school. Every patrol unit would respond leaving the rest of the town fair game. Oh, and they other cute move they make here is parking all the decommissioned patrol cars in front of each of the banks. Any crook would know that they are a decoy because Crown Vics went off patrol here a couple of years ago.
I know and am friends with a number of LEO's. Some of the nicest people I know and I totally agree with you!! and I've been flamed for sticking up for LE here.
I also have met the police chief of this department and I think he's a decent man. But bad cops are hard to get rid of.

A psychology experiment in the ‘60’s involving students playing as prison guards and shocking other students proved (as I recall) that nine out of ten would deliver a shock that was potentially fatal if ordered to do so. They really don’t need to look for thugs. Nine out of ten regular people are close enough to count.
