Rand Paul slams Ted Cruz in op-ed (Hypocrite alert!)
Politico ^ | March 10, 2014 | BURGESS EVERETT

Posted on 03/10/2014 3:49:19 PM PDT by Timber Rattler

Sen. Rand Paul blasted fellow GOP Sen. Ted Cruz’s frequent references to Ronald Reagan on Monday, deepening the rift between the two potential 2016 presidential candidates.

In an op-ed for Breitbart News, Paul (R-Ky.) took several shots at Cruz for espousing a foreign policy framework in the mold of Reagan. He also criticized Cruz’s frequent bashing of the GOP for nominating insufficiently conservative presidential candidates like Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney.

“I don’t claim to be the next Ronald Reagan nor do I attempt to disparage fellow Republicans as not being sufficiently Reaganesque,” Paul wrote. “I will remind anyone who thinks we will win elections by trashing previous Republican nominees or holding oneself out as some paragon in the mold of Reagan, that splintering the party is not the route to victory.”

And if Paul continues his course, we will have Mitt or Jeb. Which increasingly looks like the GOP plan. I mean lets face it. The ONLY person close to Cruz on the field is Paul. ..

I hear ya. We’re a long way from the 2016 primaries , a lot can happen. Ted’s family lineage is a lot less suspect than Rand’s. ;-]

Paul was raised Episcopalian, but converted to Presbyterian. He worships at the Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green, Ky., where he’s been a member since 1993. His wife is a deacon there.

DungeonMaster, what led you to think he's an atheist?

It never fails. A GOPer comes out of the closet in full glory and a faction of FR rushes to cover for him by attacking those pointing it out. Then blaming them. Talk about obvious projection...

Tell me Sgt., Do you consider Paul’s support for Mitch a conservative value? How about his acceptance of amnesty regardless of what he calls it?

Lastly, why do you ‘feel’ that simply stating the facts as they exist is an exercise in romper room? Do you prefer us to all hide in the dark until it’s too late pretending reality isn’t what it is like last time? To what end exactly?

By all means. Enlighten us ‘kindergarteners’, Teacher.

Who stuck a bee in your bonnet, Norm?

The food fight on another thread reminded me of a bunch of little girls, running around, flapping their arms and screaming because a bug landed in their dolly’s teacup.

I don’t mind people debating the issues, but when it descends into stupid name-calling and ad hominem attacks, I find that has little value.

If you have a problem with my description of an event, I don’t care.

I;m tired of seeing comments like yours every time someone’s Golden Boy gets shown to be something less than golden. I’m tired of wahtching a frame by frame repeat of the last election season play out and want to do what I can to stop it.

It’s that simple. BTW, Someone complaining about ad homenim attacks calling people kindergarteners and ‘running around like little girls’ rings a bit hollow don’cha think?

I can't put my finger on it so I started looking. I think every Democrat is an atheist yet they all seem to have a "church family".

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'
Sen. Rand Paul is hammering his fellow senators for keeping billions in financial aid flowing to Egypt's military -- even as Cairo's security forces massacre anti-government activists. [by "anti-government activists" is meant church-burning Christian-murdering jihadists]
