CPAC Audience: Legalize It!
Breitbart ^ | 03-07-2014 | John Sexton

There are things you expect to see at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and there are things you don't. One of the things you probably don't is an audience cheering and applauding arguments for legalizing pot and bemoaning the war on drugs.

A panel titled "Rocky Mountain High" held Thursday afternoon started out as a debate between Mary Katherine Ham of Fox and Hot Air and Christopher Beach a staffer for former Drug Czar William Bennett's radio show. But as the debate wore on it became clear the real disagreement was between Beach and the overwhelming majority of the audience.

The Q&A portion of the panel lasted well over an hour. Person after person stood up to challenge Beach's position on the war on drugs or the dangers of pot. Toward the end of the 100 minutes it had become a kind of joke. After one tough question by someone who clearly favored legalization, Beach turned to Ham and said "I guess that one's for me."

Just saw this on another thread and immediately thought of you:

1 Corinthians 13 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

While it should be up to each State,

Absolutely. We should sunset every Federal drug law. Say after 5 years. That would give the States plenty of time to pass any law they see fit.

Complete and total diversion. Maybe CPAC itself is.

This has to be sarcasm. For one thing pot hasn’t been illegal across the board for 62 years, only about 48, much less if you were willing to live in Alaska.

Spare us from the youthful libertarians. Mary Katherine Ham was taking the pro-homosexual position on Bill O’Reilly a few weeks back. Now it’s weed for her.

Fully agree.

Mary Katherine came across as a staunch conservative until recently. Now it appears she has decided to come out of the closet with her liberal/libertarian views.

How anyone thinks the country can prosper and succeed with legalized dope and even more dope addled liberals brainwashing kids in government schools is beyond me.

We have already seen what happens when a lifelong pothead rises to the presidency.

Imagine the condition of the country if most of the government, businesses, the military, courts, colleges and schools are staffed by dopers like Obama.

Without a meaningful grass-roots party organization of their own except for getting themselves on ballots, Libertarians have historically attached themselves like leeches to the Republican Party.

No doubt, the Libertarian accolytes flooded the CPAC convention in substantial numbers this year...undoubtedly this is why Rand Paul won the presidential straw poll, along with the votes of unwitting conservatives.

Unidentified, Libertarians leech and propagandize on web sites like FR, and they do this across the internet conservative spectrum. Conservatives are generally always very accomodating to them, some even secretly love them.....even though so many Libertine-arian "planks" are antithetical to conservative principles and values. Go figure.

Seems like CPAC was finally infiltrated to the max this year....this didn't surprise me in the least. With boyishly-charming, smooth-talking, persuasive front-men and spokesmen like Rand Paul and John Stossel as Trojan horses worming into the psyches of both GOP and conservative circles day and night, both of these political entities will become further divided and incapable of success in defeating the Left.

The Libertarians are the best agents on the side of the Democrat party and liberals in general.

I'm sure the Left is rubbing its collective hands together as they watch what's happening at CPAC, i.e., the Libertarians trumping the conservatives in key moves. The Democrat Party would NEVER, NOT FOR A MINUTE tolerate the Libertarians to leech onto their party even though many of the Libertarian "planks" mesh with those of the Dems.

The Libertarians increasingly finding a comfy home in the GOP and/or the conservative movement is NOT a good omen for our side, folks. Be alert....please. Fortunately, things are being revealed in the CPAC event that we can learn from.

The end was a done deal when people decided “rights” are more important than coming to know the truth.

Many Libertarian positions clash with social conservative positions. There are also many points of agreement. Legalizing pot is one that lights the flamethrowers.

I have noticed these threads are much more civil debate this year. After three months of legal pot in Colorado the chicken little arguments are beginning to fall flat. Time will tell which side of the debate is closer to reality.

The gun grabbers warned of shootouts over parking places if concealed carry became law. Soon we will have real world evidence from legal pot sales. I predict the drug warriors will look like the gun grabbers.
