Have you ever noticed that competitors open their stores next to each other? This seems crazy until you understand a principle called Hotelling’s model of spacial competition. And once you do, you’ll also understand how Ted Cruz is positioning himself to outmaneuver Rand Paul as the conservative candidate for the GOP nomination.

Well neither Palin or Cruz will be the nominee. So yes it’s your right to stay home and pout.

It's not clear whether George H. W. Bush or Bob Dole would have beaten clinton even if Perot hadn' run.

In the short-term, a conservative third-party would hurt the Republican chances at the presidency but in the long term, it might be better for the nation if that new party formed. That's the debate that I have going on in my head. A better alternative is for the conservatives to regain control of the GOP right now and hold it. Stop running Democrat-lites as the presidential candidates.

No matter how many times you say that, “being for” something accomplishes nothing. Hillary will “be for American Jobs” and will you be happy?

Every single report on US manufacturing jobs echoes a common issue: there are jobs waiting in the US but a lack of people who have the required skills to fill them. Whether it’s from the nonsensical idea of sending everyone to college or the dumbing-down of secondary education, this is an issue where a political candidate could actually DO something that makes a difference. Reducing the size of government by shutting down unnecessary bureaucracies, eliminating regulatory agencies that aren’t needed, reducing spending and thus the tax burden that must ultimately be paid by consumers - these are the issues Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are rightly dealing with. And we will be infinitely lucky to have either man as a 2016 candidate instead of Jeb Bush, who is the more likely choice, given the way the GOP works.

Maybe it’s time to understand the economics of the real world instead of repeating the “begging for jobs” mantra. Here’s a place to start the educational process:

And what was Perot for?

Keeping jobs in America. That is what, and he was right.

I have since learned, he might have been strongly anti-gun, for that I have changed my original support for him, but at the time I was strongly for Perot.

America needs to bring back American jobs.

Then that’s what I’ll do, and I don’t care at all what you think about it or how you characterize it.

The GOP can kiss my ass.

I just want my party, the GOP, to stand for my position which is to hire as many AMERICANS as possible.

For more than an entire generation, America has been exporting what was once the world’s single most magnificent manufacturing powerhouse.

It has largely been exporting what was once the world’s single most magnificent manufacturing powerhouse, America, and sending it to what is now the world’s most magnificent manufacturing powerhouse - CHINA.

America we have sold our very soul, to a country five times our size, which is seeking to wrest control of the world from us.

America bring back American jobs.

Stop selling out.

Bring back American jobs.

To America.

The danger is that either Cruz or Paul will branch off and form a third party

Not going to happen. No one has forgotten the lesson Ron Paul learned when he tried it. While the Republican and Democrat candidates are buying commercials and making campaign appearances the third party candidate has to standing around in courtrooms giving all his campaign contributions to lawyers - just so he can get on the ballot in every state. The electoral system is completely rigged by a mutual conspiracy between the two parties to keep third parties out.

Ross Perot was a multi-billionaire who could afford to pay for a small army of lawyers while he went on campaign. I doubt we'll see anyone like him again. Most super rich types either aren't likeable enough, or aren't willing to spend their own dough like that.

I used to like Rand Paul until he revealed himself to be an amnesty supporter and then rented himself out to McConnell dirt cheap. So I hope that Cruz runs circles around him in the coming months.

Ditto. Cruz is the real deal, and I support him in 2016. He's this generation's Reagan, and we need him as deperately as we needed Reagan in 1980.

I like Cruz and Paul. Not sure who I would vote for there.

I’m supporting the one who stands for what he believes and doesn’t give in the Marxist Democrat in the White House or to Mitch McConnell and the GOP Establishment. Ted Cruz is man of principle; Rand Paul has disappointed a lot of Conservative / Tea Party folks by becoming a political whore when he endorsed, and is vigorously working for, Mitch McConnell instead of a great Conservative, Matt Bevin. I LOATHE RAND PAUL.

How Ted Cruz is trying to outmaneuver consistently outmaneuvering Rand Paul

There, fixed it.

I like both of them but it does appear that Ted Cruz is making it hard for Rand Paul to find his footing. He has to be able to differentiate himself from Cruz but the truth is they are very much alike. Its going to be interesting watching them duke it out for the nomination.

Don’t care. I don’t vote for RINOs anymore. If a Rat wins over a GOP-E hack, then so be it.

If the Republican party fails to nominate a candidate that can appeal to its conservative base, that’s not (necessarily, at least) the fault of the base.

The danger is that either Cruz or Paul will branch off and form a third party as did Perot with the result being the election of a Democrat. This is the way Republicans commit suicide.

The Republicans started their own euthanasia years ago by not having the ba**s to stand for principle. Hell, they couldn't beat a Marxist, Community organizer from Chicago who only had 2 years in the Senate and 3/4 of that time was spent running for President. Why? Because it was John McCain's turn to be the nominee. And he is influenced by his Liberal wife and dyke daughter. Then, after 4 years of destroying this nation, the GOP gave him another 4 years to complete the job. It will be a cold day in hell before the GOP ever has someone in the White House again. So, why the hell not start a 3rd Party? Who shives a git.

We are however giving the future to China. Bring back American jobs.

What future? Labor-intensive manufacturing?

The only reason Chinese labor is economical is because it is cheaper than automation - there is no way to bring those jobs back to America, because labor here is more expensive than automation. American industry is more productive than ever, despite employing fewer people, largely because the cost of automation has gotten low enough that it makes sense to replace labor with machines.

China will eventually get to that point too.
