Keen grasp of the obvious here. DST was invented for dairy farmers who milked by hand and had no electric light.

The THEORY is that IF EVERYTHING ELSE REMAINS THE SAME, then we will save energy.

Of course, nothing else remains the same.

It's exactly like the freeway bypasses in the 1960's.

The THEORY was that Loop 410 would provide a quick way around the city, away from the traffic.

The PRACTICE was that a whole lot of businesses and houses were built around Loop 410, so that now, that's where all the traffic is.

Paging the Aw Jeez guy.

We’ve not had a moan and groan thread on DST since... well, since the last time we changed the clocks.

I’ve had to travel for work through too many time zone to notice any effect from an hour change.

I used to spend 36 hours travel (including multiple layovers) to work in Yemen, 11 hours different time zones.

That would mess up the body clock.

It’s a big scam, just like almost everything else the government busybodies dream up.

Farmers had nothing to do with it. They work when it’s light, they don’t really care what the clock says. It’s generally been pushed by people who want more hobby time after work, and couldn’t be bother to shift their own schedule so they convinced the government to make EVERYBODY change their schedule.

That would mess up the body clock.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I knew a guy that would work day shift for a month. Next month it would be the mid shift. 30 days leter it would be nights.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Now THAT. That messed up a body clock. Big Time
Daylight Saving Time does cause disruptions in sleep and routines, though, cutting productivity, and its use to move more money to tourist areas has dissolved.
Tourism is nearly dead because of the insane laws and policies of tourist locales using environmentalist and animal worship as excuses for officious thefts and robberies. Related real estate is dead because of all of the schemes used to inflate it along with insane, expensive regulations, tax hikes and other tax hikes in tourist areas (impact fees, building fees, engineering fees, etc.).
And we will continue to have it until the world comes to its senses and ends the idiocy of DST. And given the rate at which the world tends to come to its senses you should expect to see these threads twice a year for the next 200 years give or take.
My Dad did that for time, maybe 9 months??
But they shifted every 2 weeks. It was insane. Every other Monday, nobody on any shift could function.
The trouble with that extra hour of daylight in the afternoon is that it burns the grass! I vote we repeal the act. :)
Move the clock 1/2 hour then never change it. Ever again.
I am one that takes 3 weeks to get over this but my poor dogs never understand why we all of a sudden wake up at 3:30.
