Obama's caution on Ukraine may loom over midterm election [also, live breaking news from Ukraine]

(Reuters) - With Russia's incursion into Ukraine reviving Cold War-style tensions, President Barack Obama is at risk of suffering a blow to his credibility at a time when he can least afford it: as he tries to convince voters to stick with his fellow Democrats in congressional elections that will help shape his legacy.

For five years, Obama has practiced a cautious approach to foreign policy crises, prizing sober diplomacy and the search for consensus over brinkmanship, in prolonged conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But the deliberative style that Obama's team sees as a statesmanlike attitude in tune with Americans' war-weariness, was described as dithering in the crisis over Syria, where the United States long discussed military action without committing.

Facing his toughest test yet in Ukraine, Obama is once again finding himself portrayed as a weak leader, outmaneuvered by a wily, opportunistic Russian President Vladimir Putin intent on reviving the United States' nemesis.

-—the only way to deal with tyrants like Vladimir Putin is with a clear understanding that they can’t be trusted and that only decisive action will deter their provocative moves,” ——

That statement is more true if Barack is substituted for Vlad

America knows that Vlad is does not measure up to Barack as a tyrant. On his worst day, vlad did not destroy his country by tyrannical acts to the degree Barack has done.

By showing Obama to be an ineffective piss ant, Vlad has done America a big favor.

When will America begin to act?

and several squadron's of F-22 Raptors, the most advanced combat aircraft in the world.

I don't think Raptors, a US Air Force plane, are rated for carriers!

When Turner needed a military expert to write that article they picked the staff writer who'd seen the most war movies. As a bonus he'd driven past a military base once.

“..How can they polish this turd?...”

LJ Proverb #1: YOU CAN”T POLISH A TURD!
You can put perfume on it, put a big red bow on it and even dress it up with a little silk and satin. But when you go to polish it, you end up knocking off the outer crust and inside you just get the same old s _ _t!!!

Fear not...

Our Fearless Leader is, even now as we speak, is parachuting - alone and unafraid - into the Crimea, to make the waters of the Black Sea recede, cool down the climate of war, and to negotiate a settlement with the Russians - simply by the “transformational nature of his Presidency” and his firm - FIRM, I say - grasp of foreign policy and his awesome Diplomatic Genius...

Urk... I think I just threw up a little.

What would the U.S. think if Civil War broke out in Canada or Mexico? Would they be concerned like Putin, of getting flooded with refugees? Would they hope that the neighboring country settled down? Best that the POTUS control his tongue better.

Did anyone see Rumsfeld, He was funny last night said:

Russian armed forces have lots of nukes but there equipment is old, ships have trouble getting out of port, conscrip uninterested soldiers and planes are sitting ducks to our stealth fighters.

He said Putin is punching way above his armed forces capabilities.

Love that man.

I have a really hard time believing that anyone is going to base their vote over the Ukraine, one way or another. Unless Obama gets the U.S. into a literal war with Russia over it, no one will care.

Now hang on a minute, you're being really unfair to President Obama and I'm going to have to call you out on it.

President Obama is not an ineffective piss ant.

President Obama is an ineffectual piss ant.

Actions are ineffective.

People are ineffectual.

“...Barack Obama is at risk of suffering a blow to his credibility...”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

One of the funniest lines I have ever read if it weren’t so scary. It is like saying that I am at risk of losing my Leprechaun, there is ZERO credibility for ZERO to lose. Can an embalmed corpse suffer a blow to his health? Can Bernie Madoff suffer a blow to his credibility as a financial consultant?

I’m not sure America has ever looked so weak on the world stage, at lest not in my 26 years.

Obama really is a walking doormat. An utterly incompetent and spineless moron.

I almost laughed at that one. "Sober diplomacy"....hell no!

Drunk, drugged, and out of touch with reality.

I am watching this whole thing and I have to admit...for the first time since 1991, I am honestly afraid that we as a nation may suffer a nuclear war. I feel like that bumbler in the White House is going to do something stupid and we’ll end up dying in nuclear war.

Call me crazy....
