Barack Obama’s National Security Team met at the White House Saturday to discuss the deepening crisis in Ukraine, which now includes Russian troops entering Crimea and occupying government buildings.
Those in attendance were: Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey, and CIA Director John Brennan.
Those not in attendance were: Barack Obama. Unbelievable? Yes, but not to worry, as White House reporter Zeke Miller tweeted:
Briefed by Susan Rice. Susan Rice. Is the irony not lost here? The same Susan Rice who not only went on five Sunday Morning talk shows and falsely blamed the attack in Benghazi on an obscure YouTube video, but said just last week that she has “no regrets” for doing so.
This is a quintessential example of why Obama is often ridiculed over foreign policy. The White House calendar showed he had no scheduled events on Saturday. Even Joe Biden joined the meeting via teleconference.
Yet, the Leader of the Free World couldn’t find time to attend his own National Security Team meeting on the quickly deteriorating events in Ukraine, relying instead on being “briefed” by Susan Rice, of all people?

After all, with Kerry, Biden, Hagel, Haskins, Clinton and Rice keeping their staff and the all-important DNC pollsters in the know, Putin knew before Obaba did.
For the first time in my 50 years, Russia has the drop on us.

Maybe he wasn’t invited to the meeting.
I’m sure Barry gave Putin all reassurances that U.S. prior knowledge of Russia’s invasion would be a tightly held secret. And I’ll also bet Barry knew about Snowden’s plan long before Snowden left the NSA. Oh my, and where did Snowden end up? Russia, you say? WHAT A COINCIDENCE! And where did Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham first meet? Russian language class.. ANOTHER COINCIDENCE!
I can’t get all worked up after spending my wonder bread years fighting the Soviet Navy in the bad old days. Today, the once powerful Baltic, Northern and Black Sea fleets can be casrept/no-op’d in minutes with a couple of well-placed Tomahawk strikes from nearby LA or VA Class SSNs (yep, we still do that).
Thank God this Russia isn’t the Soviet Union of the 60’s and 70’s. They once kept 40-50 SSNs/GNs/BNs deployed (deployed!) in North Atlantic alone. I used to swear at their radio room guys on VHF that I’d bury them, and I finally did.
Putin doesn’t have the stick his predecessors had.

They knew there was troop movements that were called an exercise by the Russians. But when our most excellent spies determined that there was no medical vehicles or personal amongst the troop movement, well then they obviously were not moving in a direction where they would need to engage an enemy.
Little did they know, that the Crimean defense forces would not fire a single shot. The Russian however knew very well. Thus the lack of medical support.
Lesson for today, when a division of Russian's are headed your way with no medical support, be very very concerned.
He has all his ICBMs. And I gotta believe a few are well kept. Pretty big stick. And we have been busy eliminating ours. Not that Barry would use them even after a first strike nailed us.
