I think it's irreparable at this point, certainly so long as 0bama and his coterie of race-baiters is in office, or in power within the Democrat party. To drop or dilute the hate will be to lose their base. They're stuck: it's all hostility all the time or they're just not radical enough for the party.
The target has been the one remaining safe one, the one that never fights back: white males who believe in free speech and find to their dismay that the belief is not reciprocated, who believe in equal rights and find that their opponents insist on special rights for special people, who believe in freedom of association and free markets and find that their opponents demand an iron control of both, who believe in live-and-let-live and find that their opponents intend to do nothing of the sort. There's a fundamental ideological break there, and dazzling marketing campaign with some swell slogans isn't going to bridge the gap.
The irony is that once these attitudes were considered liberal ones, not conservative, which gives the observer an idea of just how much the Democrat party is foundering in toxic ideology. Class warriors must have class enemies, their entire political dynamic demands it. We're not going to see any olive branches soon unless they're concealing a pair of handcuffs.
Also, many Catholics are heavy into the “justice” thing, which many Catholic leaders have twisted to mean that taxpayers have to shell out an infinite amount to take care of those less fortunate. Long gone are the days where Catholics did not rely on the government as the means to institute this “justice” and the Catholics themselves organized private efforts to assist the poor.
Most hospitals in this country were started by Catholic organizations long before the government got their meat hooks into things. As I said, now Catholic leaders have pushed congregations into believing that it's the governments job to care for the poor and if they don't support this then they're not good, compassionate Catholics, as if taking other people's money under compulsion is, itself, somehow just.
Finally, many Catholics have allowed themselves to be deceived into the idea that abortion is a woman's right. Hence, you have people like Nancy Pelosi who professes to be a Catholic yet call abortion “sacred” and holds that the act of homosexuality is not sin.
The Catholic church has been overcome by deception and has bought into the lie. That's why they vote Democrat.
Sorry to inform you, but the European culture, principles and work ethic of the late 50's and early 60's has already disappeared.
More importantly, for over a decade the Democrat party has used white males as the bogey man so that they would ingratiate themselves to non-whites and receive their vote at the accepted cost of the vote of white males. Mission accomplished. That’s what’s not easily altered.

No doubt. And for the same reasons that are operating here. Liberal politicians are willing and unfortunately able to sacrifice principles and ethics to ensure their own reelection.
But even if I agree with you on the decline in European values since the 50's I would argue that it was those values that provided for the birth of the greatest of all civilizations. And we are choosing to throw those values in the trash. The human race will pay a bitter price for that error.
Wise White Men are high information voters who turn out in midterms.

I would hope that a wise White man with the richness of his occupational experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a woman or minority who hasn’t lived that life.
The entire Black vote confuses me. I’d be banned for good from this and other sites if I truly gave my reasons as to why they vote Dem now.
