Quite the contrary. These numbers will cause many more stations to add Savage and/or drop Hannity or time delay Hannity’s show.

No Rush, no Hannity, No Mark Levin. Maybe they have moved to a new station, but if so I have yet to find them. Maybe somewhere on AM.

Rush and Levin are still on WBAP 820 AM, right where they always were. And at the same times, 11 AM and 5 PM, respectively.

WBAP did drop their FM simulcast on 96.7, however.

Beg to differ. When one station adds a new host...and loses audience...that is not an action that other stations will rush to emulate.

I would also wager that three months from now, Savage's audience will have declined further. He has a well-defined appeal, but it's narrow and an acquired taste. He would be best cast as an evening show, somewhere in the 8 PM-12M time slot.

Wow that’s good spinning... WBAP does not pre-empt Savage, Savage does his show only two hours every day, the third hour is a combination of pre-recorded best of’s or canned interviews. That is why Cumulus does not clear the third hour in any of the top 10 radio markets.

Yes Cumulus lost some Rush listeners to WOR, Hannity was stale on WABC, and WOR had no where to go but up, in the long run Savage will always be ahead of Hannity.

Could be. But Savage has won round one.

I concur 100%!

The other radio host that I go out of my way to find is Michael Berry.

My sense is that Savage is a shtick.

On my scale of reality, personality rates a few more notches toward reality than does shtick. Rush & Hannity are “radio personalities”. Savage is all shtick all the time.

"Sean Hannity is Republican not conservative.

You have it backward. He is, very vocally, NOT a member of the Republican party. He is a member of the Conservative party.

The end result of the Savage shtick for me is that I just don’t find him believable.

“brown was becoming less liberal “

Last week (I think it was last week), he was giving his State of the State speech and quoted the bible several times. The local station carrying it live immediately cut it off.

I wasn't "spinning", Scott. I wasn't aware of the format.

Which is, you must admit, a rather unconventional -- if not outright silly -- format.

By the way, running Krok in the third hour still is what is referred to as...a pre-emption.

Taking over a time slot...and losing audience...is not called winning.

Sean Hannity is Republican not conservative. It’s sad to realize how many don’t know the difference.

I don't know what show you've been listening to, but it isn't Sean Hannity, that's for sure.

I have to agree with that - if Sean were quicker on his feet in debate it would be more tolerable, but he is not. His counter arguments end up being a bit too cliché during the moment and I find myself getting upset with him and have to turn the channel.

Savage gained for himself, and Hannity lost for himself.

BTW “Drivetime” radio runs 3-7 PM, Savage has only two of those hours.

Yep - he’s bombastic just for the sake of being bombastic - no real point to it.

Not to forget he was a huge Jerry Brown supporter. Some years back there was a thread critical of that and Savage’s supporters showed up to defend him - one even arguing to the hilt that Brown was not running as a Democrat and had reformed from his prior self - attacking us all for claiming he was a Democrat candidate and we had to go to the California Dem Party website and post a screenshot of his profile as their nominee to get them to stop.

Savage gained for himself, and Hannity lost for himself.

But how did the station do, Scott? WBAP lost audience, KSKY gained audience -- particularly in the 25-54 demographic. One station manager gained audience, one lost audience. Who was who? Which one is happier about the turn of events?

Not to mention that WBAP saw fit to pre-empt the third hour of Savage's time slot -- one hour of drive time, as you point out -- and feature a local host.
