I cannot fathom that these companies, in these economic times, are giving priority to whether or not their workers know how to use a fork properly or how to correctly set up drinking glasses and drinking without making too much noise. Though the total lack of ability to put together a coherent sentence is for sure a major issue.

It depends on what job a person holds. If part of one’s job requires social contacts ‘in person’ with a client or clients, then yes, basic finishing school training may be required.

I will bet that a business lunch with a Millennial is a frightening scene. No one really wants to see what it is you are chewing while you are chewing it. Eating salad with your hands is a no-no and ordering a Jello-shooter as an after dinner cocktail is off putting.

You should see some of the work orders we get.

I do maintenance on CNC machines, etc.

Sometimes we can only hope the person submitting a work order is on our shift, so we can talk with them and try to figure out what they really meant.

The best written, with perfect grammar and spelling are from a fellow from Puerto Rico and one from Russia.

Many of those from younger Americans are truly pathetic.

I am teaching someone about this right now and he’s 43.

Moron thinks it’s okay to pretend he’s some effing east sider and truth is he went to a school with kids whose parents are luminaries in the tech world.

I hate it when he slurps his food or drink. uses his utensils like drum sticks. talks with his mouth full of food.

Bangs his d***nmd spoon against a bowl while eating cereal.

Weetahded.

Even Jay Z speaks English these days.

He’s a businessman. If we can’t understand him, he can’t pitch his stuff.

You don’t speakuh due engish you won’t go far.

Besides, who wants to do lunch with some frickin. slob who makes more noise than my dogs?

Pigs ....

I doubt that where a fork or where the knife goes is the real point here, however; they added this for effect as these kids are not very smart. Let me give you an example of a kid, actually an adult and a niece. The girl was born in 1980, and; she has a degree in computer sciences, yet; she works off and on in bars. She weighs 250 or so, sat on my couch pretended she wanted a job, and; I had my neighbor find three jobs with then HCA 6-8 years ago for her. The girl never looked me in the eye. This was over some while ago, but; my wife’s son is lazy, plus a free loader. I noticed she kept pushing buttons on her cell phone. I inquired- “What are you doing?” She was TWEETING. What the hell is that I asked? What class and manners she had- I thought. I may as well as have been talking to the damn wall. The cat would have been better as she would have looked at me. I soon was told by my neighbor to ask her why she never contacted anyone of the three for an interview? The lazy ass did not want to be bothered to update her Resume. She is obese, ill mannered, and I would not hire her. I have never invited her back, and; no, I refuse to help her get a job.

What? Do you object to having to do an interrogation after each attempted sentence to try to determine the meaning of it? How uncool of you.

I certainly can see a company considering someone, with poor social etiquette over a lunch interview, as a person unfit for the work environment. Poor social skills indicate not only a lack of professionalism, but also a lack of respect for other people. It is that lack of respect that leads to workplace strife and all sort of issues that disrupt the work environment.
